The irony is that that guy probably has a better life in prison than he had out of it.

Came here to say this, although there's a chance it's horribly inconsiderate.

Would I rather be homeless 10 years, or stuck in prison for the same length?

It's an interesting Would You Rather.

Three strikes law is a bitch.

The missing context is that the homeless dude had an extensive rap sheet while Paul Allen had a smaller role within a circle of high-level execs who were responsible. Not disagreeing with the disparity in judgement being dished out, but context is always crucial for these kind of politicized headliners.

What's not missing from the context is that the homeless man felt remorseful and turned himself in the next day.

All judges in Louisiana are elected. Guess which way those elected judges lean?

So...It's shit like this, voters...

Obviously the more you steal, the less time you serve. So the question is how much does one need to steal before they're just like "you stole how much? We're not even mad, we're impressed, you may go now"

$100 = 15 years

$3,000,000,000 = 3 years

$90,000,000,000,000,000 = 8 months

$2.7×10²⁴ = 4 days

$8.1×10³² = 1 day

This is assuming there is not a curve.

Is that all? I've got that laying around somewhere.

Well done.

Yeah, I just noticed my math was wrong inbeteen 8 months and 4 days. Instead of 4 it should be closer to 56, then the last line would be around 20 days.

Who do they serve? The 1% or the 99%.

He gets 15 years of housing, meals, and indoor plumbing. Pretty sure there's some sort of rehab center in there too.

And cellmates who might kill him, infect him with disease, chance at getting raped. Jail is such easy street pssha.
