Cats are one of the few species, aside from humans, that hunt for sport.

I never miss a chance to tell that to people who are about to swim with dolphins. Being pretty far inland, I've only had the chance to do it twice.

Is this somehow a routine activity now? What are you, Greek emperors? "Bring me dolphins, at once! I wish to swim with them!"

Financial crisis indeed.

Orcas are dolphins.

Actually, they are killer whales but they do belong to the oceanic dolphin family. An orca is also the mascot of the Vancouver Canucks.

Orca is another name for killer whale yes, that doesn't refute that they are dolphins... and actually, they are dolphins - Cetacea; Odontoceti; Delphinidae; Orcinus

...And orcas, and monkeys, and chimps.

I hate when people make this assertion because it makes people thing that there are fundamental differences between humans and "the rest of the animals."

Animals are just as fucked up and cruel as humans, make no mistake.

i think those are young cheetahs that aren't experienced hunters yet.

yupp, and it doesn't help when the prey doesn't run away, messes up the hunting instincts.

That's actually a picture of a mother teaching her kittens a little bit about hunting...

This looks like a case of adults tiring out a deer and then letting their cub play with it. Builds character.

The little guy probably tasted better once he calmed down. Adrenaline is the primary cause of the gamey flavor in wild meat.

I'm often seen as a hippie bleeding heart type and yet I kind of love this picture. It's true, nature isn't a fucking Disney cartoon. I remember originally seeing these pictures and I figured that's how things ended up. I also saw a National Geographic thing on Youtube where a cheetah killed a baboon and then started playing with its baby and grooming it. They ended it so it looked like things turned out well for the little baboon, but I had a feeling they just didn't want to show what happened next... Carnivores are carnivores, end of story.

i always find these pictures particularly disgusting. the little baby is helpless and scared so it can't even run away. the predators play with it, acting all nice then eat it. i'd rather see a struggle to survive than this.

Still do not like seeing things die that cannot put up a defense. But I live in ignorance. It happens all the time, humans create farms so I can cook up a steak. But something about this little guy still hurts to see. me=pussy
