'Cautiously optimistic' perfectly describes my attitude to this. I can't get all that excited after months of "hay guise, they're making an arrested development movie!", "No seriously they are still planning to make a movie", "Arrested development movie "looks promising"", etc..

I'll save the losing-my-shit for when it is playing on a screen in front of me, and not a second sooner.

I agree. They hastily closed the story, how could it continue? There probably were a bunch of jokes that would have been referenced to in later episodes but can't because of the way it ended. They should have just left it open and us wondering.

I was thinking to myself the same thing. Between the age difference for Michael Jr and Maybe, and the long gap for writing I'm not sure if they will actually be able to pick it back up with the same magic it once had. At least they will be able to get all the original characters back though, if they had to recast one or two members that would pretty much ruin it for me.

As excited as I am, part of me is worried that it could destroy the legacy Arrested Development left behind.

In my opinion, part of what made the show so great was the fact that it ended on a high, and wrapped up all the story lines. It didn't turn into a shitpile of piss poor writing and toilet humor like so many other shows, and that's why AD is remebered so fondly and has a cult status. Trying to milk it for some more could do some harm to that cult status if they screw it up.

It's like trying to fix something thats perfect and unbroken, only to break it in the process and then have those broken shards shoot into the eyes of you and your entire family.

Its always weird to me, that when they are talking about the next season not even filming until next summer, that a good number of AD fans will die between now and when it airs, and never get to see the show.
