Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  6. No animated images. Please submit them to /r/gif, /r/gifs, or /r/reactiongifs instead.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

What is wrong with sometimes? Personally, I don't spend my days thinking about him. I have better things to do. I do miss his comedy when I see him on a special, or old TV show, or movie, but I have him right there to see. It is disappointing that he is no longer producing new works, but we still have his old stuff to remember and enjoy. So yea, I miss him when I see him, but I don't miss him all the times.

I don't know, he was o.k. I could never really get into some of his jokes as much as the rest of my family. He had one show where 1/2 the show was a rant about bald men shaving their heads were not real men. He wouldn't get off that thought and I had to change the channel. Overall he was a good comedian, just not my style.

He wasn't just "a guy" but he would hate us all for thinking he was anything more. He was a workaholic who polished his sets until they gleamed with wit. He did what any master does, he elevated his art to such a level that he made it seem easy and obvious to the rest of us.

Instead of the "George Carlin on Death" video that seems to pop up the moment George Carlin is mentioned, here's George Carlin doing what he does best, educating and angering various socioeconomipolitical layers of this fine society.

he may hate the idea of us for thinking of him as anything more than just a guy, but i dont think he realized how much of an impact he had on the world. Look at every successful comedian today, they ALL list carlin as one of their biggest influences, and on top of that look at our generation, we revere him as someone who speaks the dark thoughts we all have, and admire him for speaking them for us.

edit: and on top of that, he spoke truth to power with absolutely no fear. "politicians are irrelevant, they're only there to give you the illusion of power. you have no power. you have owners. they OWN you."

My greatest regret in life is not having been able to meet him before he passed on. He was a philosophical, comic legend and i dont think anyone will ever surpass his level of greatness. ive heard each of his stand up specials at least 30times each and can recite most of his jokes by memory. sometimes hes the only person that keeps my hope in the dark hilarity of mankind.
