IRC Chat: irc.synirc.net #rlgbt - info and rules

Rules

  • Rule 0: All content including links and personal thoughts on recent chicken restaurant-related events must be posted in the designated "Hot Topic" thread! Please check it for the latest information.

  • Rule 1: No homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, racism, serophobia, or misogyny. If you are unclear about what may constitute any of the above, please see the LGBT FAQ. If you are using triggering language in an educational or demonstrative capacity, we ask that you please wrap it in a trigger warning, e.g. [problematic language](/trigger). If you are submitting a post that contains hateful remarks or triggering language, please precede your post's title with [TW]. For example: "[TW] Title of Post"

  • Rule 2: Demonstrate a willingness to learn. This is a safe space. Anyone can make a mistake and accidentally say something hurtful or triggering. If you find yourself corrected for making this error, please try to learn from it. This is not a place to tell people that they need to reclaim a pejorative so you can use it, that they should laugh at jokes about them, or that they otherwise just "shouldn't be so sensitive." For lightly moderated LGBT-related discussion, we recommend /r/ainbow. /r/ainbow does not moderate discussion, but the community will expect that you treat them with respect. For more information, see /r/ainbow's FAQ.

  • Rule 3: Meta discussion will be directed to /r/LGBTOpenModmail. The mods check it frequently and will take suggestions into consideration.

  • Rule 4: Threads that seem to have been taken over by off-topic and/or excessively inflammatory discussion due to linking from other subreddits (Including but not limited to ShitRedditSays, SubredditDrama, and MensRights) will be deleted so they do not appear on r/lgbt's front page. They will still be accessible from outside links. Deleted threads may be unmoderated, so keep this in mind. They are officially disowned and you are on your own if you participate in them.

Whether or not it's "natural" is irrelevant.

This exact same link was posted one day ago.

I can understand a little post duplication with news events, but this is clearly just karmawhoring.

I normally don't care much about reposts, but when it's been less than a week, it's kind of blatant.

Relevant.

As the article states, gay, lesbian and, in a broader sense, homosexuality, are words we use to describe human behaviour.

For what it's worth, 450 species is not a heck of a lot (I'm sure there are lots more that practice homosexuality that we don't know about yet); and for what it's worth, on this scale, I suspect that sexual reproduction is a bizarre aberration.

(Maybe not. There are a heck of a lot of kinds of beetles...)

Not nearly enough. In terms of evolutionary success, sexual reproduction is a fluke.

Rape is found in most species. Saying that because something exists in nature it isn't wrong is a very dangerous path of reasoning.
