Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), weight loss photos, posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. Weight loss photos go in /r/loseit, DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Did anyone else notice that the man going down the slide is not sliding? He appears to be more like falling feet first. It's not the height that is frightening, it's the angle.

I was there once and was told by the instructor that the first 4 meters is in free fall.

That pic is the world's tallest waterslide (135 ft) at Beach Park in Brazil.

I have ridden the second tallest which is Summit Plummet (120ft). Going 60mph on a waterslide is not really very comfortable.

Summit plummet and the humunga kowabunga at the other disney park are great! Summet plummet was like the worlds fastest enima though.

when i landed my baggy swim trunks were more like dental floss g string material.

You've gotta clench them cheeks for safety. My back got all scratched up on the seams. I am sure everyone at the park thought I was having freaky sex or something.

Holy shit thank you. I thought I it was! I did it twice when I was 17. There's actually a point when you're going down where you're barely touching the slide and feels like your free falling. Awesome waterpark.

Summit Plummet may have been the most fun of my life... outside of my times playing Blitz for N64.

Raging waters? I went on it and my bikini top went up to my neck. Lucky for me there is a crowd of people watching at the bottom.

something similar happened at the raging waters in orem the girl had the ties come undone. one of the life guards was kind enough to put his t-shirt on her so she could fix it.

Having actually been on water slides that are that tall (roughly 80') I can tell you that they are AWESOME!

I see your single looping water slide, and raise you a double looping water slide:

I never got to ride this one (very few people did, I think), but I distinctly remember it being notorious when I was growing up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Action_Park

Looping waterslide is about halfway down the page, but the entire article is worth a read.

There was a slide called the Tampa Typhoon at Adventure Island that was something like 70 or 80 feet high.

View from the top

The slide itself on the right hand side

They had radar at the bottom of the slide to tell you how fast you were going, and I think I hit something like 40 miles an hour coming down.

Terrifying.

[–]evandavis7 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The top view is exactly why I hate those slides. They look totally fine and then you get to the top and look down and you're like "where'd the fucking slide go??"

WaterWorld (Now closed) in Houston had a ride like this called "The Edge", in fact i'm pretty sure it was steeper and taller. I've ridden it, it wasn't as bad as you think it is. Major wedgie tho.

Just found a thread stating the slide was 80 feet high...i wish i could find a picture of it... the steepness of it was insane... you would damn near come completely off the slide..

[–]jewellbags 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I actually have dreams of falling from heights like this, and I can't see "sliding" from that height is much different. Fuck the creators of this slide for making my nightmares a possibility.

My heart started racing just imagining that. I was seriously worried for the patrons of that contraption.

Me and my brother have been on one exactly like that, and yes it is scary; At the very start you're not even sliding really, it's like a free fall for 2 seconds and to top it all off, the force of the water was so much that it tore the whole side of my brother's shorts. It's seriously fun regardless :)

[–]StuntCock 0 points1 point ago

that does not look scary at all, we have something like that at Wet n wild in Dallas. maybe not as high but its the same slide.

I am scared of hights, but it's still not the hight that is frightening me about slides like this, it's the fact that in my head I am the unluckiest person in the fucking world, and I just know I would fall out of it and crash on the ground.

[–]crazyjimmy 0 points1 point ago

32 years old and I still refuse to ride this slide. I will go on everything else but that.

That's really not that huge, nor is it that bad. I have a pretty awful fear of heights, too. There's a water park near me called The Beach and it has a slide that's about the same size and vertical drop. It's actually pretty damn fun to go down, and skimming across the water at the bottom like a rock is excellent.

I have ridden Der Stuka at Wet N Wild. Almost that tall. Couldn't make myself do the Bomb Bay, though :)
