Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

This completely neglects the processes that had to occur to make the other spoon and clean it. There was effort to obtain the metal to produce the spoons that are sold in stores and then washed with water that is piped into their homes and heated by fuel which is also piped into their homes. I'm not supporting wasting nonrenewable resources, but I don't like how this is presented as only half of the story.

I agree, must warn others.

Where does one draw the line? If disposable spoons are wasteful, how about Kleenex? Why not use a hanky that you carry around and throw in the wash. You could carry a dirty spoon back home to wash it, you could do the same with a honkerchief. Paper coffee cups much? Return deposit glass bottles?

Clearly there's quite a lot of perspective missing.

Think of all the jobs created by our laziness.

Plastic is a byproduct of the oil refining process. Oil is not pulled from the ground just to make plastic. This byproduct would otherwise be disposed of.

Think of the work it takes to ship Figi spring water over other water to get to us, just for us to drink and think it tastes better.

I'm curious why someone hasn't just created a Figi knockoff. Or Voss, or Evian, etc. Seems like it would be easy.

because its not the water that sells, its the brand.

Right, but these days being all eco-friendly I don't think it'd be hard to make a local water with Evian flavor, Figi flavor, etc. Then run a smear campaign about the horrendous use of oil, plastic, etc to get the overseas water.

Wasn't there one computer chip in the '80s that was actually a more expensive chip, with the math coprocessor physically destroyed, because it was cheaper to do that than to create another entire assembly line? Economy of scale is weird as fuck...

It's pretty amazing that our society has to sensationalize their thoughts so other people will believe the bullshit they are spewing out of their traps.

Yes, there is oil that gets extracted and refined SPECIFICALLY for making plastic spoons. The left overs from the refining process for said spoons is shipped back across the ocean and dumped into a little African town's water supply...It's not like we make fuel or other products with it.

Liked it better when I saw it in the new AdBusters....their font/photos are way better. Plus I'm pretty sure it's a reddit repost.

Sometimes plastic spoons are more efficient. We'll let you wash all the spoons from an elementary school. That'll be fun.

Stupid repost... Hey moronic OP, did you not think before reposting this? The only effort I would have to do is go to the store and buy them there. How does any of the rest of that have to do with anything? Someone else is doing the rest and they do it to make money. Though it would be stupid to use those in your own home where you CAN wash silverware, but what about pinics and such? Please think next time before you decide to post unintelligent bull shit and stick your dick in a tree. THANKS!

Edit: Just saw your name and it explains a lot.

Saved so I can show this to my wife who routinely grabs plasticware instead of running the dishwasher.
