People are just too damn comfortable at FB. Google really needs to do something spectacular if more people are going to want to switch over.

You mean besides not being a shitacular assmess of a site?

Also: An invite is no longer necessary. You can only do so much. I say leave the soccer moms to their Farmville so the rest of us can move on.

with the newest facebook change that just happened tonight most of my friends decided to try out google+ hopefully they will like it more. my only concern is that you can post directly to someone like on facebook. or if you can i havent figured out how to x:

You can post directly to people. :) Just tag them with +[their name] and if you want it to be visible to only them, remove any circles you're going to post it to.

Wow, they got tumbleweeds now!! Things are looking up for Google+

Actually I'm doing quite well on G+ right now.

All you have to do is follow Felicia Day. That girl talks more than my entire family on facebook.

Sad but true. I really liked it at first...and still don't get why they haven't opened it up.

um, they just opened it up today...

they updated the mobile app to include the ability to do hangouts (kick ass i think!)... and they took the restrictions off of how many people you can invite :)...

so invite away!

Their age limit, which them imposed to keep Google+ safe until "We ... make sure that Google+ provides the best experience to users under 18 who may be eligible to use our product before we open it up to them" is still in place. As far as I'm concerned it's still in beta.

Yes, age limits have always been effective barriers on the internet to prevent young people from seeing content they are not supposed to. ಠ_ಠ

So it's still invite? That's a flaw. Many people won't even bother. They waited too long, and now facebook is implementing similar things. I agree about the hangouts...but most of the people I'd want to talk to aren't ever logged in. That makes me a sad panda :(

Google tends to stick to invite to keep the "exclusive" feel, then people stay because they have what others don't. I'm worried for Google's sake that if they remove the invite system people will start to realize that + isn't really that great.

It's only fun to be in an exclusive club if any of your friends feel like joining. I never really post any content to it, because facebook gives me wider appeal. That's my whole gripe, I'll shut-up now.

If you've seen the newly updated facebook you'll see how fucked up it is.

http://betterfacebook.net I use this chrome extension. Fixes the whole chat thing and makes it VERY customize-able. I like it.

The following three posts are the best example of why Facebook will endure.

FACEBOOK SUCKS NOW

Here's an alternative

Yeah, not like Facebook was ever not open to everyone. That would've really hurt them.

Dude, I know you understand my point; no need to be snarky. Yes, I know it used to only be for college, but that was WAY before social media was at the point it is now. I know there was myspace (and friendster before that), but with hundreds of millions of people already entrenched in Facebook, I feel waiting so long to open up Plus was a mistake. They should have taken advantage of the HUGE amount of buzz they had MONTHS ago.

[–]netraven5000 0 points1 point ago

I understood your point but you misunderstood mine. There is a reason why people use Facebook and any other service they use - people will use Google+ if they find a reason to use it.

Google+ may never kill Facebook. But why is that important? Isn't it more important that we all have nice tools that work the way we want them to?

And if you really want to talk about what is and isn't going to win out in the end - many have said that G+ could easily beat Twitter hands-down. You may think that's no big deal - but think of what Twitter has become.

This is why I like it. In fact, I'm getting my Google+ hipster T-shirt all ready so I can do the "I liked it before it got popular".

You are doing something seriously wrong if your feed is empty. My guess is that you're treating Google+ like Facebook.
