I don't want it to turn into an action crazed series though.

The relationship between Skyler and Walter is tantalizing since you can see the slow corruption of Walter's drug trade chipping away at the pedestal she put herself on over him. And she still is a better person than him, I think. But with this latest move she pulled at the end of Season 4, you start to wonder exactly how she can manage to keep these morals of right and wrong without becoming a hypocrite.

The drama in this series is A+. While action is always good, and Breaking Bad does it well within the confines of TV, I very much appreciate the slow scenes and watching the character advancement and their relationships unfold.

Potential spoilers

Walter as a character is a family man at his roots. Over the course of four seasons we've seen him develop this sense of power of control over the actions that have enabled him to provide for said family. Only in this season do we see him lose that power as an 'employee' of Gus. Who at any moment could kill him and Jesse.

However, as was recently demonstrated Jesse can cook Walter's formula to 96% purity which begs the question 'what will happen to Walt?'

Walt is sensing this, how obsolete he's become. Gus can't forgive Walt for his transgressions which leaves Jesse as Walt's sole competitor in the meth game. And we all know what happened to Gail Betiker, right?

This to me is very interesting and lays a good premise for Season 5.

As to the notion of Skyler:

Skyler is an accessory to the fact that Walt is criminal. She balances the home life Walter failed in pursuit of being the provider and power hungry 'monster' he's turning into. The dialogue between these two becomes interesting when the viewer realizes the fine line these two walk. As Skyler said, 'I protect the family from the protector [Walt].'

But how can she do that now without endangering Walter, Walter Jr. and their baby girl when she herself has become wrapped up in Walter's 'gambling' lie.

Not only that but she feared for her's and her family's safety when the IRS was about to question the cooked books that her signatures were all over from her previous employment.

Should the IRS find out about Skyler they find out about Walt and the meth dealing. If the DEA finds out about Walt, they found out about Skyler and the 'cooked books'.

All of which brings us back to the original fear that they both share which is the safety and well being of their family.

Skyler isn't just a bitch mom. Her lies reflect Walter's lies. They're Bonnie and Clyde.
