In college, I got that pizza in bulk for practically free. There was a Tony's Pizza plant down the road. A few times a year they would have a huge sale where they would sell off there slightly messed up pizzas for quarters. The pizzas may have had too much cheese or sauce or something. It was just pizzas that weren't perfect enough to sell in the store. They had both these school type pizzas and Red Barron pizzas. Salina, KS FYI.

Gallikers FTW. I find their chocolate milk to be particularly refined in body, with a balanced taste. However, I must object to the use of chocolate milk with cafeteria pizza, as the acidity of the "tomato sauce" on the pizza is sure to ruin the overall tones and flavors of the chocolate milk. Indeed, Gallikers Lemon Tea would be a much better fit, where the sweetness is balanced by the pizza, rather than overwhelmed by it.

I prefer taco salad day (nacho day). Taco salad at my high school consisted of a pile of chips, a little bit of lettuce, a pile of seasoned ground beef, a large quantity of molten nacho cheese, black olives, and to top it all off a little bit of salsa. Pretty sure everything about this meal was against local school standards, but that's OK. It's how I survived high school.

I had some recently (family member works at an elementary school) and could only force myself to eat a couple bites. I absolutely remember the pizza being awesome as a kid. I don't know how it was cooked, but the stuff they serve at our local schools here isn't the same thing at all. Its sealed in plastic and cooked in large steam ovens. It ends up being this limp, soggy mess that you need to eat with a fork and knife because its impossible to pick up.

Pizza and corn. I don't know who decided that corn was the best side dish to pizza.

Also we never got a pretzel either, or a fruit cup. bastards. We usually got "salad" which was really a big bowl of lettuce with carrot shreds and if you were lucky you might score a tomato bit.

Refined white flour, sugary low quality milk, some fruit in a sugar syrup, carb heavy vegetables, refined flour with sweetened sauce topped off with fatty cheese.

I do not miss this at all.
