There is a lot of gravity in space...what do you think holds our planet in orbit around the sun? But I was thinking of using it more for takeoff and landing purposes.

If you put the today on the cats back it can just land on it's feet. You need butter side up on the cats feet. That is how proper levitation can be achieved. And yes this is old as hell.
