Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Please mark spoilers like this:

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Damn, he doesn't even look scared, despite being that deep in a river with Teddy Roosevelt on his back.

Let's see him do that with William "I need a bigger bathtub" Taft up there!

Teddy Roosevelt was one of the most progressive presidents we have ever had and instituted sweeping changes. His basic tenet was that Capitalism was good, but the government was there to make sure corporations pursued a profit in a socially responsible way. He likewise was an avid hunter, believed in the right to bear arms and in strong foreign policy.

He is everything that Republicans are traditionally supposed to be. Before the dark times. Before Ronald Reagen and the Tea Party. Before Republican became a synonym for 'Conservative'.

As a registered Republican who's been disappointed with the party for years, I approve this message.

He's my hero. He was absurdly imperialist though. To be honest though, I probably wouldn't have been anti-imperialist back then. We used to have a great country.

Championed conservation - check

Reformed police corruption - check

Sought to break the "unholy alliance' between corrupt business and corrupt government - check

Got the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act passed - check

Fought hard against the "spoils system" - check

Where is today's Teddy Roosevelt???? I would vote for this man 1000 times if he were to run in 2012!

This was a shop from before photoshop's time. It's also been reposted on Reddit and commented on before - http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/gap9c/theodore_roosevelt_riding_a_moose_across_a_lake/

I know it's a repost because I commented on the same image months ago. <_<

Karmadecay actually didn't pick up on the even older reposts (At least the one I commented on 5 months ago), just the recent one - http://karmadecay.com/i.imgur.com/QigqK.jpg

Anyhow, it looks fake because if you look closely you can see Roosevelt's outline looks as if his image was cut and pasted onto the moose image. This is clearly shown by the camera focusing differences and lighting differences.

I don't fucking care, I'd pick Teddy and Putin for my all-star team any day.

Anyone over crazy-cat lady Michele Bachmann, seriously.

[–]mrmyxlplyx 0 points1 point ago

So, you're saying we should dig up Teddy and kidnap Putin? Sounds like that's how the zombie revolution will begin.

[–]ggalitz 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I think we'd fare better with a zombie revolution than with Michele Bachmann as president.

[–]mrmyxlplyx 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Aren't those two things the same?

EDIT: proof

[–]ggalitz 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

But... zombies are smarter than Bachmann.

Proenneke. But nope, not him, not even Putin but good ol' Teddy.

[–]zekkerjah -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Both Putin and Theodore Roosevelt did/do things that were/are badass to impress the public all the same. It's PR, not badassness.

Proenneke just wanted to live in the wild - whether hunting exciting game or making a boring refrigerator in the ground.

[–]roland333 0 points1 point ago

Putin is a rabid autocrat though.

[–]zekkerjah 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, but in this case, he's just a very talented politician.

[–]mags87 0 points1 point ago

Teddy got shot before he was supposed to give a speech, then did the speech before going to the hospital. that is badass. he was also a brown belt in Judo

Did you read anything I just said?

[–]mags87 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

from your post, i gathered that you think that everything that TR did was just for press and not because it was his real character. i think that the examples i gave countered your point

[–]zekkerjah -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Nope, not at all. Situations like the ones in the photographs or anecdotes like the one about being shot, are PR. There is nothing wrong about caring about PR - all politicians have to, it takes huge resources to rise to the level of president regardless of who you are. Hence, I don't admire historical figures like him for their PR, I admire them for what they accomplished.

[–]zekkerjah 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

To me it sounds like you're under the impression that PR is somehow "evil" and it tarnishes the grand image of your hero. It's not - it's part of the game and everyone with power had to dabble in it.

[–]mags87 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I just think that TR did a lot of the things he did because he is TR, not because it would help his political career

TR on his way to make a speech about conserving our wildlife then to the annual bear 'rassling competition

"General Orders: Date of Issue: January 16, 2001" It's a good thing they gave it posthumously, otherwise he might have strangled them for daring to suggest what he did on his off day warranted a medal.

Came for the Teddy Roosevelt. Was not disappointed.

currently reading a 900 page book about him

[–]roland333 0 points1 point ago

Which one? I just finished reading Theodore Rex. A little disappointing after The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. Colonel Roosevelt has started wonderfully well though. As great a president as he was, he really comes to life when unconstrained by the restrictions of the white house.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

The Rise...

I had no idea it was this long when I bought it but having done so I feel obliged to read it. I am sure that it's at least much more comfortable reading it on the kindle than it would be with a print copy and the book does certainly make me feel better about how things are going today.

[–]roland333 0 points1 point ago

You'll love it. Hes not the most interesting man in the world. He's the most interesting man ever. I need to re-read that thing to remind myself how important it is to live life fully.

-I'm going to get off reddit and study for organic chemistry.

Teddy Roosevelt got shot in the chest during a campaign speech. He finished the speech without a whimper. Bad-Ass.

[–]miriku 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

He did whimper, but then did the whole "It takes more than a bullet to kill a bull-moose" bit, and finished the speech.
