Which makes it about 6 * 1022 times more significant than you.

It doesn't even make sense now that I think about it. Should have been about 0.7 times as significant as you. And don't take it seriously, I agreed with your post.

I like it! It makes me think of Despair.com's 'Legacy' poster. http://www.despair.com/legacy.html

I don't feel insignificant, just small.

We are the universe contemplating itself and no matter how rare or common that turns out to be it will always be precious. Life is precious. Of course our end effects are tiny and we blink out as motes upon motes upon motes of dust. But that doesn't make us meaningless.

The idea of a 'benovelent' creator possessed of absolute power over us on the other hand, yes that does seem to make us insignificant.

We are unimportant not meaningless, religion tries to flip it.

I also love how the realities of the physical universe destroys the Bibe's message of humanity's importance and relevance.

I tend to focus on the plethora of religions. If you refuse to let it go, repeatedly demanding that they convince you that their religion is better, they can't gain any ground.

I love being enormously insignificant.

Your point is the exact reason why people turn to religion - they don't want to feel insignificant. I wouldn't bring this point up very often in debates, it will only reaffirm to people that they made the right choice by accepting a God that makes them feel important.

Apologist: And you're on the ONLY planet with life! We are so important!

I disagree, as a human, I'm very important. I have the opportunity to improve humanity and lives of future humans. Sure it's only important to our civilization, but just because there are bigger things out there doesn't mean we are insignificant.

And what are we insignificant compared to? The whole of the universe? As far as I know, we are the only civilization in the universe, why wouldn't we be important. You can't compare us to things just going on in space like stars and black holes, they are not sentient, their just doing their thing.

Even if you compare me to all the people in the world, the fact that I live in the US gives me more opportunity than BILLIONS of other people to improve humanity.
