lol, 3ds max 2011, vray 2.0 and photoshop 2.0.

edit: that can't be right, photoshop 2.0 was only released for os x macintosh computers (thanks kojesranjee for the correction) back in 1991. he could mean cs2, which was released in 2005 (for mac+win), but i'm still wondering how or why he's running the newest of the new autodesk and chaos software, but an old-ass version of photoshop.

edit the second: did a little more digging, the system requirements for photoshop 2.0 are:

  • An Apple Macintosh II computer with a 68020 (or any later model) with a minimum 3 MB of RAM.
  • System software 6.0.7
  • 32-bit QuickDraw
  • Adobe recommends a Macintosh II with 68030 or 68040 processor, System 7 or higher and from 5 to 8 MB RAM.

This makes me disappointed in billionaires. If had millions to put on a house there is no way i would waste it all on 30+ rooms. I would build an adequate sized house with a fully integrated classy water park of sorts.

There would definitely be a moat/lazy river throughout the whole compound integrating multiple pools and grottos and hot tubs that were both inside and outside my house.

You should see it in person... it looks creepy in the picture because the pool floor and walls are dark blue so not much light reflects out; this is not only creepy, but dangerous as you can't tell how deep it is. But it also has this bizarre gold leaf pattern in the floor which isn't consistent, so it makes some parts look shallower than others, when it's actually uniformly 10 feet deep all around. It's a very odd pool.

Okay... I am aware it is sad that THIS is what I think about when I see that picture...

... but I really hope the water level isn't kept like that normally. It really defeats the point of having tile all the way up if you are going to put the water level above it. I also see NOTHING to dehumidify so that wicker chair is done in a year or so. Also... is that fucking hardwood at the exit of your pool? Have fun rebuilding.

Yeah, I was assuming it was teak. Better than nothing I guess... but no pressure treated wood will withstand this set up. The problem is the water chemistry, combined with constant 85 degree & 60 degree dew point, will destroy this room. People cut corners on indoor pools more than ANYTHING. They really should have a good amount of poly on the walls in an area that tiny...

Also, the only airflow is directed above the water just creating evap....

Architecture, air distribution, mechanical equipment and water chemistry. Come on people. Nice pool though, i'd love to be the one to rebuild it in 10 years.

edit: apparently this is a render. I can sleep better. I don't expect an artist to know/care about these things, but would have almost teared up if another idiot rich man or hotel did this.

You can be a lot more flippant when creating an outdoor pool. If you are going to have an indoor pool, especially a heated one, there is a lot you need to account for if you want it to last. This is one of those situations where 'a stitch in time saves nine' should be your mantra.

As I mentioned in the reply below, there are 4 things that you need to focus one when goings indoor. Architecture, air distribution, mechanical equipment and water chemistry. You need to move the air, but NOT the air directly over the pool itself. You need to choose architecture that assists this. The high places should be poly'ed completely and prepared to take the beating that 85 degree, moist, chemical filled air will pound on it.

As working class (I earn about 25k a year) person who has several family members earning more than a million dollars a year and a lot of affluent family friends, I can assure you this is not as prevalent as you would think. There are a few, and of course their cases are highly publicized but this is no more common than people who take advantage of the welfare system and unemployment (and from what I gather from my experience, certainly much less by numbers and if not by ratio as well). Of multimillionaires in California I know only one guy who is getting away without paying in excess of 45% (most are 55% or higher) of their earnings to taxes. He owns a large accounting firm, almost all of the people between 45% and 55% are clients of his, and he is actually a VERY hardcore Democrat who donates at least $100,000 to the party or campaign funds every election, and from what I gather much, much, more under the table.

I have so many friends who have been taking advantage of unemployment, military benefits, and welfare I can't even count them. Although I will say the extent to which they take advantage is GREATLY over estimated by most of my multimillionaire family friends.

I realize this sort of opinion is very unpopular on reddit and I don't have much other than case evidence to back it up, so you guys can go ahead and downvote me. I don't really care if you vote Democrat, to be honest looking at the presidential candidates, I probably will be voting Democrat too, but this is one thing that has always bothered me. Both sides are so filled with hate towards each other they are completely blind.

It isn't the people making $1 million a year getting away with this, but the people making $20 million. When you can basically live off of interest, you can start sheltering your money. Income tax hikes do hit the people you are talking about, whereas investment income hits the ultra rich. That being said, there is no denying that your friends making around $1m/year are, historically, paying peanuts.

Also, taxes aren't "punishment."

Yes, I know a few of them as well. My aunt and uncle are included in this, they are also HARDCORE democrats. None of the ones I know horde it, with the possible exception of Donald Bren, but I only kind of know him. Most of those people I know end up donating way more to charities and colleges than you'd expect. Sure there is the benefit of tax bonuses, but not at their own gain. They still have to give away more than they would if they just paid taxes in the first place. Usually the republicans do it out of spite because they hate the fact that they are being forced to by the government.

Rich republicans with moderate to no religious base tend to actually be extremely moral people. They just tend to feel they worked hard for their money and everyone else should to. They feel this way even when a fair portion of their acquired wealth is through dumb luck. That's not to say they don't damage the poor, but few of them are aware when they are doing it. The two things to be weary of in my opinion are very religious republicans and rich democrats. Rich democrats are usually either out to make a profit somehow while deluding themselves and everyone into thinking they are the good guys, or are very guilty about something. Otherwise it would just be stupid for them to be democrats.

Downvote for magically knowing all his friends tax rates. Of course people tell you they pay higher taxes than they really do. I have friends who argue that they don't work overtime because they make less net from the tax increase than if they never worked the hours at all. As in working hours makes their paycheck actually go down.

Are your friends only factoring in earned income? Capital gains? Dividends? And why is your accountant disclosing other people's taxes? In the real world people don't run around calculating their tax rate so they can tell friends, those wealthy people have accountants to do it for them. Minus the telling part which is shady.

The water didn't touch any wires or anything, those are the ceiling lights, the water came in through a drain we had so everything was elevated.
