My best friend & I always started the year together in school sitting next to each other in shared classes b/c the teachers would say to sit wherever we all wanted. Look at the year in time-lapse, though, and you'd see us gradually get moved apart until we were at completely opposite ends of the classroom, hahaha

Mostly, we just relied on inside jokes. Like this one art teacher who was so old that we said her shoes were probably Confederate-issue (they really did look just as old as the rest of her). So, at random times after we got pushed to opposite ends of the classroom, one of us would start whistling "The Battle Hymn Of The Republic" or "Dixie" and we'd both crack up.
