I've always heard this as a joke:

A manager of a store hires a recently-immigrated Chinese guy to work in his storeroom. He tells the Chinese guy, "I want you to go in there [points to door]. You're in charge of the supplies. I'm going to make my rounds and check on everything; I'll be back soon to see how it's going."

The manager walks off and the Chinese guy goes in the room. Awhile later, the manager returns. The door is closed and the light is off. Confused, the manager opens the door -- and the Chinese guy jumps out, yelling, "SUPPLIES!!"
