  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

WACKO!!!!! A beer made of beets and cabbage the somehow kicks major ass! The first time i had it was in a growler from the brewery, the beer was blood red.

Yep, I generally stick to the brewpubs like VPB, Flatbread, and Alchemist (sad what the flood did to it.) Farmhouse is also a great place to get top quality beer from everywhere.

Farmhouse is fucking awesome. I think as far as microbrews go, American Flatbread is my favorite.

I still haven't been to Das Bierhaus.

Das Bierhaus is ok. It is small and any beer they have you can get at the Farmhouse for the same price. Try the Schneider Aventinus It is God damn delicious.

They aren't all over the place, just not very pronounced.

It's a 'meh' beer. Beer-snobs are 'okay' with it because it's not a Miller/Bud/Coors. Non-beer-snobs like it be it's a new thing to have 'flavor' in a beer.

Personally, I also think it's awful. I taste much more pronounced and well-rounded beers from my homebrew club alone.

That is the point. That is what they do. If you don't want to try new things, then don't buy it. If you don't want to drink beer that is made from beets (Magic Hat Wacko) then don't buy it.

I respectfully disagree.

Magic Hat is what my homebrew friends and I call an 'intermediate beer'. It's edgy enough to take the business of non-beer-snobs, yet in the safe zone where beer-snobs will think "Meh, at least it's not a Miller/Bud/Coors".

It's simple, yet effective. They are successful because they fill the middle.

Personally, I think it tastes like hell, but I'm spoiled by dozens of microbrewies in my area.

It's also touted as "wacky;" same with some of Dogfish Head's WTF brews. Do there exist fancy-pants beers made of beets and seaweed?

EDIT: In full disclosure, I'm only a semi-beer snob: I'll buy the occasional $3-15 single, but I'm too lazy to brew it myself; and I come from Delaware, the land of Dogfish Head.

They surely do fill the middle. My taste for beer is across the board, so I'm content with beer in general, and Magic Hat is always a nice "change of pace". I don't make a point to drink it on the daily, though.

some of their early releases were awesome. Beers like Heart of Darkness, Blind Faith, Humble Patience, Jinx etc will forever be remembered fondly. Most of the new stuff is crap, but I'll at least give Magic Hat props for slowly bringing back the good stuff.

BUT lets not forget that they are now owned by the Empire Brewing Organization who is responsible for the trash known as Genny Cream Ale and J.W. Dundee.

The thing is, it's the most famous beer brewed in Burlington, VT. It gets lots of attention. The college kids love it, until they try Shed, or Otter Creek, or Longtrail, or any of the several other beers brewed in this area.

We have a TON of craft beers here, Magic Hat being universally considered the worst. But they've got some creative marketing, I'll give them that.
