A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

So let me get this straight? You fired an IT Manager for not being a security specialist?

Did he have a CCIP? Any security certs?

If not, you're just blaming someone else for your own stupid hiring practices and will fail again. People have a tendency to assume knowing how to computer means that someone knows how to computer all the computers.

Also, cracking wireless networks is ridiculously easy. Hell, it's pretty easy to emulate a cellphone tower too. If you don't want to be compromised by those two methods, don't use wireless technology.

People are retarded. When we had a power outage at one of my previous companies I was expected to deal with it as a junior sysadmin.. because I'm the "technical" guy.. you know, electricity.. wires.. that stuff? Just fix it!

God I'm glad I don't do that work anymore, dealing with stupidity on a daily basis wears off.

You're absolutely right, as a non-native English speaker it is absolutely unacceptable that I make spelling mistakes. Disregard everything I say, for I miss-spelled a word and am unworthy.

CISSP? (CCIP is Cisco's NP level carrier cert).

No, I meant CCIP. Implying he would understand infrastructure. CISSP or CEHs usually don't end up as IT Managers.

What do BGP and MPLS have to do with office wifi?

[–]badtz-maru 1 point2 points ago

They're just more abbreviations that can be flaunted to show off one's apparent knowledge of IT terminology and mystify those who do not comprehend?

tl;dr: My e-peen is big.

I don't know, how does wifi convert packets into radio waves? Magical air juju?

I mean, what was the traffic before it became magical air juju?

A long winded version of the explanation you asked for still wouldn't have any mention any of bgp or mpls...

I should probably ask: When you hear mpls, you're thinking l3 tags and virtualized routing, right? Not "buying an mpls-powered circuit from a carrier"? Point being, the abilities needed to build and support a global mpls backbone are considerably different those needed to call a circuits broker and ask for some vpls links.

Please please please realize that blindingdawn just finds shit on the internet and reposts it to Reddit. There is a 99% chance that they have no fucking clue what they're talking about and that this is some attempt at a clever title.

I tend not to concern my self with peoples "names" on here.

I don't care about Karma, about reddit-celebrities, reposts, thiefposts or anything related.

There's a thing on this thing, and if it's a thing I like, I'll talk about the thing. Otherwise the thing is shit and I ignore the thing.

[–]dszordan -1 points0 points ago

Well when the thing is imaginary and bullshit I'm just trying to let you know that you're wasting your time.

This situation where the OP says his IT 'manager' got fired because 4chan modified the name of their router is false.

BlindingDawn found an image on google / tumblr / imgur and linked it to Reddit with a false 9 word backstory.

I don't get what your first two lines were talking about. I'm just trying to let you know that your shouting 'injustice!' when nothing really happened.

Unless you understood the whole time that this post was bull, in which it makes your comment very meta.

I call BS

[–]Tashre 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

So you were browsing 4chan at work and provoked somebody on there to trace your ip or something back to your network, then they "hacked" in and changed the SSID and probably WEP key and your IT manager got fired?

If he got fired over this then he had it coming. Must have been a total fuckup from jump street and this was the last straw in a long string of fuckups.

I'd fire my IT guy for setting up a wireless network also. It just begs for security issues.
