Whaa people liked this movie? I'm not trying to be rude, but I thought it was pretty terrible.

Why did you think so?

Spoilers ahoy! Don't read unless you've already seen Source Code!!

Okay, so maybe terrible is too strong of a word, but there were several moments that really drew me out of the movie. The one I remember most has to do with the main premise: he's accessing the memories of a man that was on the train to find the bomb. The first thing that bugged me was his ability to walk around in the train into areas the man didn't go into. I feel as if the areas around the man would be there, but the farther you walk from the place he was sitting, the fuzzier it would be, and eventually there would be no memories at all of those places. I understand this is pretty integral to the story and the movie would be pretty boring if he could only walk around in a 20 ft radius of the man's seat, so I was able to ignore this pretty well.

What really took me out of the film was when he followed a man off the train, into a train station, and further into the bathroom. The man whose memories he's accessing never got off at that stop, so how could he know what was going on in them? How would he know that the guy he followed went to the bathroom, or anywhere for that matter, that wasn't visible from the train at the stop?

That just really bothered me. I won't lie, I was entertained, and that's really the point. I know this will probably illicit eye rolls, because movies require a suspension of disbelief (especially sci-fi movies like this one), but this was just too much for me to ignore.

It's possible I missed some sort of explanation for this part of the movie, though, and if I did I'd be open to hearing about it.

EDIT: This gif is awesome, though.

Actually those are fairly good points, I hadn't thought of those. I enjoyed the idea behind the story quite a bit, so I loved the movie. The only thing I can think of to explain those bits is that maybe that guy had been to that station before. Passing the station on the train could have made memories of the place resurface.

Hope that makes sense. Just a thought!

That wouldn't make sense as there's no way the man he replaced had been inside the bomber's van or that little room in the train.

To me it didn't make sense. So he survived and now gets to lead his life in a computer generated reality? Not to mention that he's a different person who has to go to work and pretend to be someone he's not, or drastically change his life, and worst of all is nowhere near as good looking as Jake here.

Maybe I misunderstood the movie but it didn't really seem like anyone came out on top.

The point of the movie was that he (Jake Gyllenhaal) was essentially dead already. The computer generated reality was fed to his brain by the system called Source Code, just like the Matrix. However, he realizes that each time he accesses the memories, he's really living out those memories in an alternate timeline (parallel universes, if that is more clear). So knowing this, he completes his mission, then dies (taken off life support) in our timeline. Somewhere, somewhen else, he is now with the girl.

When the ending came I was like wait what? He just stole that guy's life. Since he did save the train then no one died. Meaning the man whose memories/life or whatever Jake is possessing is not in fact dead. And in the ending he goes and leads this other life. The life that BELONGS TO THAT OTHER DUDE. I was like Wtf? Ruuuude. And I agree, he's not nearly as good looking as Jake.

So did I, but it got really good reviews.

The premise hardly made sense and none of it made sense within its own rules anyway.

It was rather bad imo. The script was weak and the "twist" was introduced in a rushed manner.

I totally agree with you. Not in the least bit entertaining and more plot-holes than I could keep track of. Very disappointing.

i agree. if they changed the ending, it would be pretty good.

Or rather, if they had ended it about 10 minutes earlier, it would have been a great movie.

This makes a lot more sense if you imagine a small insect flying into his right eye.
