But, just because I would not be comfortable taking that picture (and I wouldn't), doesn't make it inappropriate. I happen to share the same hangup all of you are displaying so publicly. I just seem to be the only one who understands that the problem is mine. It is not reside with the participants of the photo.
While I admire your devotion to liberal tolerance, I think you're taking it too far.
Consider if you had never 'learned' to equate nudity with sex (which is what American culture pretty much preaches). Then, the situation presented by that photo would not be a source of discomfort or embarrassment to you. Who are we to say that our 'learned' behavior is natural or appropriate? There are plenty of cultures that don't exhibit our hangups and get along arguably much better than we do.
Tolerance implies that I'm putting up with an insufficiency or shortcoming in others. In this case, I think those people are the tolerant ones, having to to put up with the narrow-minded, prurient attitudes of most of us.
Right...it's "American" culture. No other culture on Earth sees nudity this way--it's the big bad America.
I do not equate nudity with sex, and I don't mind the nudity. I mind touching my genitals to my family members' buttocks.

I'm a straight gay rights enthusiast, actually. I've been around gay people all my life and am very passionate about their happiness and they should have the same rights as everyone else. I believe in science, not a naked family lying on top of each other for a photo.
I'd also like to add that it's not the concept of naked people on top of each other that bothers me. It's the fact that they're all RELATED, and are a FAMILY that creeps me out. And to have your little kid be laying naked on top of his mom...idk. I know it's not meant to be sexual, but come on now. I absolutely agree. I think this is simply a matter of cultural perspective. No one is being abused, exploited, or manipulated. Nothing sexual is occurring. Some people are completely comfortable with nudity, and if more people felt this way, I think this society would have a much healthier view of the human form and sexuality in general. It is usually the people who are stifled sexually as children who go on to perform the sexual oddities present on the internet. It is possible to be naked and touching someone, even to this extent, and it not mean anything sexually. It is a deep seeded body/sexual shame that brings about deviant behavior, not nudity and proximity in a non-sexual context.
