I have a friend of 21 years now. He is effectively a single parent and I am one of his daughter's favorite people in the world. We have run from gunfire while taking out the trash together, worked the same jobs and wandered drunk, deliriously sleep deprived and lost in weird run down deserted suburbs.

I forget it sometimes, but I have this sort of relationship with someone.

The sort of relationship where he'll call and I can tell him that "I just can't handle people today" and he doesn't get upset, he just tells me that if I need something just to hit him up and then lets me be. He was there when my very first dog died, he was there when my grandmother died. I held his daughter mere hours after she was born and have shared much of her tiny havoc.

I'm going to call his ass and tell him that I'm a worthless shitfucker of a friend for ever forgetting just how fucking important we are to each other and having drifted so much from him as of late.
