I would like someone to make him roll in various places around the world.. Like rolling in front of the eiffel tower, on some mountains and then like one the moon.. Would be funny xD

I saw an Indian priest who did that. He rolled everywhere as part of some ritual...

Coach: always, ALWAYS spin more times than necessary!!

And make dam sure to do it in the opposite direction of the kick.

I tried that while playing with friends and... it works. You get more free kicks when you do it. People just think you are really hurt when you roll a few times.

For the folks who aren't into soccer:

This kind of overreaction on behalf of players is all too common, and is done with hopes that the opposing team will be punished by a referee.

Example 1

Example 2

[–]INGSOCtheGREAT 19 points20 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Its not just soccer where players act to get ref attention.

There's a video out there (and I know some redditors know what I'm talking about and will post it) where the opposing team hilariously mocks their opponent by faking injuries quite obviously.

[–]gigglyweeds -1 points0 points ago

I don't think you need much embellishment for a full on kick to the chest. This isn't a dive, this is probably his legitimate reaction to being kicked by a professional soccer goalie.

[–]FourHundredandTwenty 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yes, that had to hurt. Getting kicked in the chest by a soccer player would probably be a lot like getting punched by a boxer.

But it's quite obvious that he was not seriously injured. The most likely injury he would incur would be a few broken ribs, and he would not be doing barrel rolls if that happened.

[–]WreckerCrew 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Damn, you winy bitches. If you can't take a kick in the chest, then get the fuck out of the sport. The guy ACTED like he was shot in the face.

[–]kolm -1 points0 points ago

This kind of overreaction

You mean this guy kicking full force into a player on the ground?

Nah, that's uncommon. He probably broke some ribs, I would also flail or roll around in agony.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

He even transitions into the Rigor Mortis.

[–]StartDying 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Looks like he was rolling away to avoid further kicks. I'd say that a kick to the chest by a soccer player hurts more than a punch to the chest by a hockey player.

[–]WreckerCrew -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Please, he was rolling away to get the refs attention so the goalie would be thrown out. The guy is a pussy. First he tries to trip the goalie when the refs aren't looking, but then when the goalie gets him back he is begging for attention. Either way, he is an asshole.

[–]gigglyweeds 9 points10 points ago

To everyone complaining that this is the issue with soccer, you should find a legitimate example. A kick to the chest by a professional soccer goalie is absolutely going to hurt. He doesn't need to embellish here to get a card.

[–]Scaryclouds 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It is an issue in soccer. Way too often do players over react to penalty or totally make one up. You are living in a dream world if you think this isn't a problem in soccer. Hell, I see this nonsense when I am playing indoor soccer.

[–]shrididdy 13 points14 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yes, the point is that he embellished it so much, and that this happens a lot in soccer. Acting shouldn't be tolerated.

[–]Calpa 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well.. perhaps the player thought 'wtf.. he kicked me straight in the chest.. what if the referee didn't see it??'

[–]gigglyweeds -5 points-4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I honestly don't think he was embellishing. He just got a kick straight to the chest. Rolling away is a fine reaction.

[–]Smilge 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The most damning part was when he reached his arm into the air. That's not from being injured, that's from trying to get a ref's attention.

[–]Deli1181 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You're right he was probably trying to get the ref to come over and card the other guy. You know a football pitch is pretty huge right, and if the ball was headed the other direction, something like that can easily be missed.

[–]ohms_law 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Punching a guy full fucking force in the face is common, even acceptable, in hockey. I have never seen a hockey player roll around on the ice crying after a single punch, or twenty punches for that matter. Just sayin'...

[–]gigglyweeds 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

There is arguably a large difference between a hockey fist fight and a soccer goalie kicking you straight in the chest. That comparison is meaningless.

Broken nose at 0:16

also:

It was 1964. In Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings, Leaf defenseman Bob Baun fell to the ice in excruciating pain after blocking a slap shot off his ankle late in the third period.

Baun was carried off on a stretcher and was presumed to be out for the remainder of the series. During the intermission, Baun refused to have his ankle X-rayed. Instead, he insisted it be frozen and, miraculously, he skated out for the overtime session.

The Maple Leafs, facing a three games to two deficit at the time, were in need of a hero to keep their Stanley Cup dreams alive. At the 1:42 mark of overtime, Baun drilled a shot from the point that beat Detroit netminder Terry Sawchuk, giving the Leafs a Game 6 victory.

Inspired by his heroics, the Leafs easily won Game 7, 4-0, giving the team a third consecutive Stanley Cup victory. It was not until after the series that it was discovered Bob Baun had scored that overtime winner on a fractured ankle.

[–]DZ302 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm surprised he took the broken nose like a boss, I was expecting him to roll around.

Anyway yeah there will always be examples, but you watch the hockey playoffs and everyones got a busted lip, stitches on their face, cuts all over, players regularly get high sticked, bleed like crazy and then come back 5 minutes later with some stitches.

There are dives in hockey, but not as frequent as football (not american football) or basketball, and they are just as likely to get an unsportsman like conduct penalty as they are to draw a penalty.

[–]Calpa 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

From my perspective, it's seems that 'diving' is far more prevalent (and accepted) in southern European football then in the north/western regions. I honestly can't watch a Barcelona - Real Madrid match.. even though, technically, Barcelona is by far the best team in the world.. the diving.. the fouls.. I just switch off. I'm more of a fan of Dutch/German football.

Dude, rugby players get smashed all the time. They somehow manage to cope with the pain without rolling about, flailing arms and clutching their shins. You know what's embarrassing about the way soccer players behave? I watched the ladies soccer world cup recently and when they got tackled, they got up immediately and carried on playing. The way male soccer players behave makes the game unwatchable for me.

Of course Americans aren't going to enjoy soccer, they aren't any good at it. It's mostly a South American and European sport unless you include the women's teams.

No country follows a sport it's no good at, that's a false economy. Sport is a business after all, so the sports which America is good at are the ones which are forced onto Americans. They won't see it like that but it's the same all over the world. Just like Brits are now being force fed Tennis because they suddenly have a top 10 world player. Just like Spain is force fed Soccer because they have some of the best club teams and the world champion national team.

It's the same with Formula 1, since it's mostly Europeans who win in F1 it's completely ignored in the US. If it had an American world champion then F1 would quickly become a highly followed sport in the US. There hasn't been a US champion since 1978 and it doesn't look like we're going to see one soon.

It is only partially to do with your personal enjoyment of the sport, if your team or country isn't prominent in it then why would you watch it?

[–]bloobloobloo 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I DOWNVOTED YOU BECAUSE USA!

[–]WreckerCrew -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The reason that American's are 'not good' at soccer is because our best athletes don't play the game. Are you telling me that if we didn't have football and basketball that we wouldn't DOMINATE the rest of the world in soccer?

But you are partially correct. Ever since Lance Armstrong retired, we haven't given a rat's ass about the Tour de Farce.

[–]Awfy 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You wouldn't dominate Soccer since there are countries like Brazil, France and Spain who have entire high schools for the sole purpose of creating football superstars. America just wouldn't have the ability to catch up to those countries since Soccer is part of their culture now. Take England for instance, they have some of the best club teams in the world (Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool) yet still can't dominate the global competitions. They can certainly get pretty close but they are always beaten to the punch by teams like Argentina, Brazil, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

[–]WreckerCrew -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Let me try that again, but slower. IF....THERE....WAS....NO....FOOTBALL....OR....BASKETBALL, If those sports were not around, then our athletes would have grown up playing soccer. You put any starting defensive back running 4.3 40s and teach him to play soccer as a child, and the rest of the world would hate us even more because we would dominate. Let's see you score on someone like Lebron. Seriously, get a clue.

[–]Awfy -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You wouldn't dominate, it's just a fact that the US just can't play Soccer like the rest of the world. Your top player only play's for England's 4th best team, which worldwide would be something like 40th-50th.

People like Messi would always be far ahead of any American player because your style would be very flat and boring, Soccer requires a level of skill which isn't seen in other sports. Only the Spanish countries can play with the flare needed to be the best in Soccer these days.

[–]WreckerCrew -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It is amazing how effing clueless you are. I'm done. The BS koolade you are drinking is too much for me to interject logic into.

Some day when you are done masterbating while watching a FIFA game, actually watch a real NFL or NBA game. Now try and wrap your brain around that athletism as it would translate to soccer and maybe....just maybe....you will eventually get a clue. Cause really....running and kicking a ball just doesn't translate to any other sport....

[–]Awfy 0 points1 point ago

It's shit like this soccer players.

[–]halfway_decent -2 points-1 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Let me start by saying that I'm a fan and always end up defending my sport. That being said, what many people fail to realize is that this kind of foul ends up with an ejected starting goal keeper and an 11 vs. 10 advantage. Sure the acting was atrocious, but if it gained the refs attention then it was well worth it.

Many people LOVE to bash Cristiano Renaldo for his dramatic falls, but look at it this way. If you are arguably one of the best set-piece takers in the world, being a tad overzealous in your falls can be the difference between coming out with a "W" or not.

A foul in soccer can be argued to make more difference than a foul in any other sport. I agree that watching players fall over and scream after being hit by a gust of wind is a bit ridiculous, but don't dismiss a wonderful sport for something that occurs in all sports.

[–]aphoenix 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I would rather lose on my sports skills than win by being a whiny little acting be-otch.

Although there are degrees of embellishment of injuries that are embarrassing to playing and fans when caught; please consider the fact that for some of these players their feet/legs value at over $30,000,000.

So the psyche that comes with that is different than our standard "that guy is a bitch and should get up" psyche.
