Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

Better than the guy I had to deal with last night. He's right in front of me, merging onto the highway at about 20 mph. I put up with him for a few seconds, but as soon as I had an opening in the lane to my left, I hopped in there and tried to just go along my way.

Guy then speeds up just enough to keep me from getting by him (we're at the bottom of one very long hill, so it's a bit hard for me to get up said hill at a normal speed unless I gun it at the bottom, so I obviously didn't want any of that). Then he plays this little game of merging about halfway into my lane about three or four times (no signals), so I beep my horn a short bit just to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe, somehow, he didn't know I wanted to pass his ass that was going 30 under the speed limit.

Buddy didn't take kindly to that. He goes all the way into my lane and flat out stops. In the middle of the highway. I came within a few inches of nailing him from behind (thank god I had unloaded all my shit from my car a few hours prior, that weight might very well have made the difference), and the guy that was right behind me was probably less than an inch from hitting me.

It's times like that I wish I had a dashboard cam or something, 'cause there was no way I'd have been able to memorize his license plate numbers or anything. Not to mention, it was dark, the street lights were out, and buddy didn't have his headlights on.

People should stop being such aggressive idiots. Let the guy in. I only "teach lessons" to people that are driving dangerously. Example: Guy comes flying up from behind me going 10+ mph over the speed limit on the 3 lane highway. We are both in the middle lane. Guy gets within 1 car length of my car and hovers there, expecting me to move to the right lane. Fuck that. I tap my brake lights as a warning that they are too close, wait a few seconds, then if they haven't backed off or changed lanes, let off the gas and slow down gradually (not a brake check). I will drop down to maybe 5 mph under the speed limit if they are really being an asshole. I do this to all the idiots that think intimidating people with their vehicle at high speeds is a good idea.

Fuck scumbag Steve.

Once you get to Frederick, it often times goes from 3 lanes to 2, and EVERYONE waits until the last second because there's traffic and forces their way in at the end of the lane. Which... if they weren't so fucking stupid, they'd understand, CAUSES THAT TRAFFIC.

Even worse is when someone tailgating you in the passing lane, you move to the travel lane to let them pass, and then they slow down (or they pass you by going 1mph faster than you, which takes about a minute).

This happened to me just the other day. I signaled way in advance, was going to slip in behind another car moving up in the exit lane, and the car behind that one sped up into my fucking blind spot.

I hate how most drivers seem to only be capable of thinking in a single dimension: forward. The idea of changing lanes by slightly slowing down and going behind a car is impossible to them. No, better to dangerously speed up and overtake.

You know what I do?

I plan my route ahead of time, making sure I don't have to make lane changes like this. If someone is overly possessive of their lane, then I either speed up and get ahead of everyone, or slow down and get in behind.

My wife and I argue about this all the time. She thinks whenever you need to change lanes (and I'm not talking about waiting until the last minute here), you should put your turn signal on before even looking. I argue that turn signals cause most people to immediately get defensive and avoid letting you over, so I usually find a spot and "announce" my lane change with my turn signal as I'm doing it.

I believe you've misunderstood my comment. I don't cut people off. I simply find and change lanes into large-enough gaps that already exist rather than requesting that someone make me a gap, knowing 9 times out of 10 they'll try to block me instead. There's nothing illegal about what I am doing.

Perhaps a little. But you have to signal before you change you change lanes. Plotting the gap is wise, but you can't find a gap and then flash the signal after you've already started the motion.
