So, the shower meme started in /r/pics Sunday night (US) and reached critical mass by morning. The chili meme in turn started Monday night, and did the same thing, and naturally the two were combined by the afternoon. Even the people who still like it today will be sick of it by Friday and probably won't make submissions based on it -- maybe a few comments, that's all.

What we should have done was have promoted another "life hack that looks cool but isn't really that useful" to the front page late Tuesday night, to satisfy the rule of 3's, and to increase the required complexity for people trying to combine them. Who knows, the "overnight lifehack" thing would have become a meta-meme and we'd have something a little less common that lasts us beyond the week.

I knew I should have dug up that old 5-minute cake recipe and posted it as if it were new. Then we'd all be washing ourselves with 5-minute 2am frozen chili cakes.
