This is what happened. A man was shot and killed by the police up the road from where the OPic occurred. The parents and family were not notified of the death but instead learned of it via rumors and the news - this is a hugely disrespectful thing to do and breaks the most basic of police protocol. The guy killed was a gangster but was "clean" and the police were unable to pin anything on him for a number of years despite continued surveillance. The family wanted to know why the police had not followed protocol and protested on Tottenham Police dept's doorstep on Saturday between 3-7pm - they received no answers and were told to leave. Shortly after that a girl was attacked by the police for remonstrating too loudly. Shortly after that a bus right in front of tne police station was torched - shortly after that the "riot" occurred - shortly after that the looting occurred. Protesters must not be confused with rioters, looters not to be confused with rioters, arsonists not to be confused with looters. This other stuff going on in the rest of the country? Opportunistic bastards - solution? Release the hounds.... Enfield cops on the scene instantly

Edit: Should add that the official police report stated that Mark (dude killed) had fired a shot at the police officer and the bullet lodged in his radio saving his life. Eye witness reports state that mark was lying on the ground and was shot in his face at point blank range (executed) - initial ballistics show that he bullet found in the officers radio was police issued.

As for him not being shot at, they still found a gun at the scene. If he put his hand in his pocket, and drew a gun, i think marksmen had every right to shoot. They don't fuck about with people and guns in this country, apparently.

Regarding the edit, he was waving a loaded gun around at police so they did what they thought needed to be done to apprehend him. This is the first I've heard of him being shot in the face, as far as I'm aware "He was killed by a single gunshot wound to the chest"

I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing a cop, who knows/sees the law every single day, executed a person at point blank range and then turned the gun on himself and pointed it at his radio, risking his own life, all for some elaborate framed story, thinking that physics could not tell how the man was killed, or that a simple LOOK at the bullet couldn't tell that it was police issued. I'm sorry but NO cop is that stupid. You might think they're assholes, douchebags, pieces of shit, but literally NOOOOOOOOOOO one is that stupid. My sincere and deepest apologies if I don't believe the media on this bullshit story. I never believe the media anyway, and I'm sure as hell not gonna believe them now because this story has bullshit written all over it.

You're right, no one is that stupid. If there was a framing, the cop probably didn't shoot the radio while he was wearing it... And Duggan apparently did have a gun, but didn't fire at police and may not have even had it drawn. Why don't you wait until the complete investigation before deciding entirely on your own what happened?

I definitely agree. It shouldn't be. However, in thousands of years of earth history, there has never been a recorded point in history where the powers of earth were not abusing their authority to some extent on the populace, and usually the lower the level of the authority, the more immediate the level of abuse. The founders of the United States, whatever their flaws may have been, observed history before making the right to keep and bear arms such an important aspect of our framework. They knew the day would come when their good intentions would be overrun by the immediate desire to exercise power through brutality.

I'm surprised that this hasn't really happened yet in the United States. While I strongly disapprove of violence, and absolutely abhor the collateral damage that is taking place due to the misplaced anger, I believe that this sort of thing is inevitable no matter where you are. Eventually the proletariat and the disenfranchised will get sick of the "boot stamping on a human face - forever." And when that day comes, I will support them. I support the people in London, at least in as far as what I've heard the story is. I hope their message doesn't get lost in the chaos.

The inquiry into the incident didnt mention anything like that. They did say that Mark Duggan didn't open fire on the police officers but the police claimed that they felt threatened by Duggan's actions.

All the looters/rioters are opportunistic even in london, they have no reason to be doing what they are doing. The peaceful protest started out small.. then all of a sudden there are thousands of people taking part when they realise they can be using the time to get free stuff.

The riots are just causing hatred. A lot of people I've heard talking about these riots have stated that they want leathful force to be taken to stop these riots.. it's ridiculous.

a lot of that is speculation and allegations, the girl being attacked by police for one has not been confirmed in any substantial way beyond a rumour.

the sock is still a rumour, altohugh i beleive it has been confirmed there was a gun which had been altered to fire live rounds and that the 2 bullets appear to have been police issue and the police officer

and I'd wait till the actual full IPCC report and ballistics details are in. There is a good chance the situation permitted the use of force.

This is certainly nothing like the Charles de Menezes case, except in the lack of immediate and reliable reports of the incident.

    Yeah, man. I just started playing New Vegas recently (bought it for $15 ad Blockbuster!) and I can't play it during the week (I've been working two hours from home all summer and going home on weekends, that's where the xbox is) so I've been strategizing how I'm going to go through the game and thinking about what would be cool ideas for future Fallout games. I've always had a big interest in American geography and landmarks (despite being Canadian) so it's kind of cool to think of what different places would be like 200 years after the nuclear apocalypse.

    I once passed a van that was on fire on the freeway. I don't know what happened, but the driver had pulled it over to the shoulder before the fire. I was three lanes away and I could feel the heat of the flames like I was standing right in front of them. Scary shit.
