It's inevitable that a notable video clip will be recycled into a gif and reposted. And then that gif will be reposted as a still reaction pic, and then that pic reposted with text on it as a forced meme.

This is inevitable. Also, without this incestuous devouring and regurgitation of content, Reddit -- nay, the Internet -- would not exist.

  1. I subscribe to r/gifs (and not r/videos) because I browse primarily on my phone. If it had just stayed in r/videos I'd have never seen it. Others are the same way.
  2. Some people have YouTube or Flash blocked (like at work), but not ani-GIFs.

Yeah it would've been nice to say it's a cross-post, but since it's in a new format it technically isn't. Get over it.

  1. Downvoting him into oblivion even when he says it was new to him? Kinda lame.
  2. Also, the argument of "It was on the front page only THREE days ago, you HAD to have seen it!!!1!!1" isn't necessarily valid because not everyone goes on Reddit every damn day. (Even if I do).
  3. I really, really hate it when people bitch about "karmawhoring". Karma has NO BENEFITS, and NO REAL REWARDS. Not everyone takes it so seriously. I just give people the benefit of the doubt; maybe they haven't seen the post before, and maybe they posted it because they thought it was cool and wanted to share it with other people. JEEZ.

Came here after patrolling r/gifs and saw a bald guy in the little imgur panels to the side and thought I'd click it. I ABSOLUTELY loved it and went so far as to hop on reddit main site and find the link via punching in "Magic beard" into the search bar.

I came to the thread to share all the funny things with you guys, to see the hilarious comments about...how hard it was to fap to this and maybe even the occasional pun-ny remark or so...

Instead 90% of the thread is fucking ass hats crying more because someone posted something that was posted a few days ago in video format.

GUESS WHAT REDDIT!! Not fucking everyone watched videos. I for one, don't have time to watch any length video, so I DON'T click video links on Reddit. I avoid them all the time. Guess what? If it wasn't for the OP, I would have never seen this funny gif and you know what? FUCK YOU for sitting there and having an ENTIRE thread bashing the OP and crying about karma and re posts. Thanks OP, I had a good time seeing the .gif and if not for you I'd have never seen it. Have an upvote for making me smile today.

TL;DR: I never saw this until OP posted it in GIF format. Also, screw you guys, I'm goin home.

What's the problem with this? OP took a video and turned it into a .gif? If they had simply re-posted the video, then the anger is fair enough, but this is a new submission, posted to a new, reasonably small, subreddit. If they were karmawhoring, they would have posted it to something like r/pics.

I am so fucking annoyed with the way people are taking front page videos and turning them into front page gifs 1-3 days later. If this trend continues I will quick clicking on any gif file at all.
