          Yeah its a rickshaw, but an auto rickshaw, it doesnt look like the picture you posted. It is more like this an

          Auto Rickshaw

          The difference is important when calculating the degree of difficulty. Also a regular walking rickshaw is barely used in the world today.

          I guess I was mistaken about the fact they are not common I suppose. Its better for the environment also I guess. I just thought people in today's day and age want a method of transportation that is at-least "bicycle-rickshaw vs. walking-rickshaw." Seems to me like we all have a busy schedule and both the previously mentioned rickshaws are pointless to conserve time. I'm from India, Auto-Rickshaws are the #1 method of transportation here aside from buses. From my experience of being on over a hundred different Auto-Rickshaws, it is very common for the rickshaw to accelerate very slow initially. Some of the motors in these Rickshaws are barely more powerful than that of a lawn mower's. It could make perfect sense that the taxi driver made a poor judgement call when turning because he thought he could accelerate faster.

              So I live in China and I ride those things all the time, it's one of the only ways to get around where I live. Passengers sit in the back of that in the part that was completely destroyed. I feel a little sick to my stomach envisioning how dead I would be.

              Do you find these emerging stereotypes of how the western world is viewing Chinese drivers accurate? We are told there are a lot of new drivers as the way of life improves due to the growing Chinese economy and are shown video after video of traffic camera accidents. Granted, accidents happen all the time all over the world, but is it as bad as it seems to us overseas?

              Well, anecdotal evidence from myself, when I was in Shanyang visiting family, the local news seemed to be reporting about 1 or 2 accidents a day. I was there from May until early July. I live in the D.C area, our local news reports about 2-3 per day. For a while i kept a record of how many accidents i saw on 270 (370 exit) to 495 (New hamsphire), and that was at least 1 per day for i think like 3 months in a row. I stopped counting after that.

              Now in each case, i'm sure there were a lot that weren't covered by the news. The amount damages probably contributes to this.

              One thing I will say, however, is that a lot of Chinese drivers don't really care for lanes, speeds (this is getting better due to traffic cameras EVERYWHERE), or right of way (until an accident). They do follow lights, albeit with leniency, and certain right of ways (cars are bigger, thus have more right of way) and most of all, efficiency. I don't know if it's because i am Chinese, but all the driving i did there seemed very natural and made a lot of sense to me.

                Not quite as bad as you've seen, but pretty bad driving. It's just different is all. Because everyone is a freakishly offensive and angry driver you end up with every driver being hyper aware of their surroundings. They actually don't seem to have many crashes. I think it's due to the fact that driving is such a terrifying experience that it makes people constantly looking around them a hundred times every time they do something.

                Same thing goes for honking. In China it's like the one time they get to take out their frustrations on someone and feel anonymous. Moreover, I think they just use it as sort of an echolocation kind of thing. Honk because I'm passing you, honk because I'm stopping, honk because I'm turning, honk because there's someone down the street a couple blocks so they know I'm coming. It's another thing that just sort of makes everyone hyper aware and gives them these non-crashing super powers.

                I rarely even see a minor fender bender. Everyone drives insanely to us, and we would not be able to deal with it. If you grow up around crazy, and everything is crazy, then crazy is normal and easy to predict, which I think is something people don't quite understand when they see the videos of people driving in India and China.

                Well, I lived in China and it isn't that the drivers are bad per se. It's just a cultural divide we see here in America and there in China. In China, there is no enforced regulation back then, which meant people did not use blinkers, ran red lights, no speed limits. Drivers would even drive into an oncoming lane if it meant getting ahead of a slow driver. Chinese drivers don't suck at driving, they just don't give a shit about anyone else on the road.

                In America, there's a lot of social road etiquette that most people tend to follow, such as letting pedestrians cross the roads first, blinkers a hundred meters before a turn, things like that. In China, crossing the road is like wearing black at night and trying to run across the freeway at night.

                I'm Chinese, my dad is Chinese, we both hate Chinese drivers.

                                        He appears to dismount the rickshaw on the far side and begin running a couple of frames before the car hits. If not it is difficult to believe he is on his feet running with an unbroken stride after getting knocked off his rickshaw 0.1sec earlier. Also if the car striking the rickshaw at an angle caused it to rotate slightly, the angular acceleration could possibly launch him in that direction.

                                        Let's assume he weighs equal the amount of the rickshaw. The rickshaw is traveling 20 mph while he is in it. He jumps to avert disaster, increasing his speed by 5 mph, a resultant velocity of 25 mph. The force he uses to do this is exerted on the rickshaw causing it to decrease in speed by an equal 5 mph. His final velocity is greater than both the rickshaw's initial velocity and the velocity right before impact. Momentum is conserved.
