Upon reading in the voices of Michael Cera, Woody Allen, Jeff Goldblum, and Mayor Quimby (needs more er-uh-ah's for Quimby), I've gotta say Jeff Goldblum takes the cake for me.

Of course, I may be biased by having seen Jurassic Park at pretty much the peak impressionability for a movie like that.

He's supposed to have low self confidence and unsure of what's appropriate to say to who, I thought it was necessary for the role, otherwise George Michael would seem too sure of himself and it wouldn't bed as interesting or lovable a character.

One time (this was early 2002 I think), in an L.A. apartment complex, I was walking back from getting some ice cream at the store, and I see three people standing on the sidewalk a bit ahead of me. I get closer and see that it's Frankie Muniz and two incredibly skanky girls. Both girls are chatting on their cell phones while Frankie stands there looking bored. As I approach and start to walk by them, one girl stops talking on her phone, lowers it, looks at me and says "Hiiiii..." real flirty like. At the same time Frankie looks at me and gives me a look that says "PLEASE FUCKING SHOOT ME THESE GIRLS ARE HORRIBLE". I just smile at them both and go on my way. true story

[–]cole1114 11 points12 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I would have laughed at him without the girls seeing, and then told them that they were lucky to be hanging out with such an accomplished actor, and they should do whatever it takes to be near him.

Well the one time that really stuck out in my mind was we were at her house for a BBQ and he stopped by. (This being around the time MitM had just started, maybe 2 seasons in) and people were asking him how the show was going and what's its like to be a star and he seemed like he was just brushing them off. To his own family.

It's one of the sails on a ship.

Different nationalities of sailors would cut their jib sails into different shapes (triangular, square, etc. . . ) and people could recognize where certain sailors came from by the way those sails were cut.

Thus the expression.

Honestly, every single thing about Frankie seems douchey to me. I mean, yeah, MtnDEW was a dick, but the arrogant better-than-you response seems worse. Way to take the high road.

He pulled the usual celebrity schtick of thinking that if he's successful in acting, he must be successful in everything else. Only instead of image-centered professions such as music and politics, he chose something that you actually need skill in...racing. (Not saying that you don't need skill in music, but...yeah, look at Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian. You don't need talent if it's shitty pop music.) He sucks at racing too.

Muniz entered fourteen races during the 2006 Formula BMW USA series and failed to finish in a points scoring position. Muniz was selected as one of the thirty–six drivers to compete in the annual Formula BMW World Final, despite his poor performance in the national series. The event, dominated by German Christian Vietoris, saw Muniz make a small impact, as he finished twenty–ninth.[20]

That's just sad, man.

And this is just gossip, but he supposedly punched his girlfriend and threatened to commit suicide.

[–]ineedsomepants 54 points55 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Here's a thought: Now that he doesn't have to worry about money, he can spend his life doing what he loves, which happens to be car racing.

I really don't see why that should bother you.

[–]bearshy 22 points23 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

He pulled the celebrity schtick? More like he pulled the human schtick.

Most people would have responded the exact same way, had they been told that they sucked at the thing they did for the majority of their young life.

Give the guy a break. He might be a dick, but A LOT of people are. That doesn't mean he deserves you or anyone else bashing on him for what he's tried to do in his life. For fuck sake, you're on Reddit, posting about Frank Muniz and his attempt at racing, while this very post and the subsequent amount of stupid karma you'll get will probably be the highlight of your month.

He's out there, doing what he wants with the money he made legally, so get off of his back.

And the domestic violence thing is a bunch of he-said, she-said bullshit. If he did hit her, that sucks. But we all have our problems, and hopefully he's able to resolve them.

[–]jakobslad 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If someone called me out on Facebook or Twitter or some bullshit like that in front of a bunch of other people I would respond in whatever way I could to make them look and feel stupid. Why should Frankie Muniz have to take the "high road?" Celebrities are just people to and allowed to react to bullshit however they wish. We shouldn't hold them to higher standards just because they're famous and they shouldn't have to ignore douchebags for the same reason.

Muniz entered fourteen races during the 2006 Formula BMW USA series and failed to finish in a points scoring position

that's not at all unusual for a driver entering a new racing series. even guys who win the feeder series to get into F1 rarely score points right away, let alone win races.

Yep. The dude who insulted him for no reason is certainly no winner himself, no reason to do that nonsense, but FM's response made him seem like a small, insecure person.

If you're content in your career and station in life, why the need to take down some anonymous Internet person, especially with such a ridiculous ePenis comment?

Oh, right. Because he's still the small, insecure person he was before he made some money.

He was in Chicago a couple of years ago for a race and came for a visit to The Children's Memorial Hospital to see the kids, including my then 9 y.o. boy who was there for follow-up tests. Mr. Muniz was very friendly and generous with his time and conversation. At first, I couldn't remember his name and my son and I just called him "Malcom in the Middle," it didn't even phase him and he introduced himself. Both my son and I are fans of the TV show, and he was appreciative of that. My boy asked him how Reese was doing, and he thought that was funny and explained that they really don't hang-out. Typical small-talk with a stranger other than that. Cool, chill, and kind person.

TL;DR: Kinda awkward meeting with an extremely nice celebrity.

It was a great show, but Muniz has been labelled multiple times as a total douchebag.

I gotta be honest...if I had $40 million I don't think I'd be spending a lot of time reading what people thought about me on the internet, much less responding to it. But maybe that's why I don't have $40 million!

[–]liquid_j 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

geeze fellow redditors, give poor Frankie a break... it takes a lot of talent to play the same annoying character in every fucking thing he's in... now that's what I call consistancy!! He's like a mini Owen Wilson.

[–]WigginIII 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but Frankie Muniz has a very low narcissistic score, based on the system in Dr. Drew's book: The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism is Seducing America. Average American score is 15, average celeb score is 17, Frankie Muniz is a 10...

I guess I'm trying to get at that he is a humble fellow.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

young, rich, and you spend your time on twitter talking to poor ppl?

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points ago

TIL that Frankie Muniz both understands the important things in life and is great at coming up with insults.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Not the most original comeback and he probably uses it everyday.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I think what makes the insult really work is the indisputable reality that everybody who doesn't have $40 mil at age 19 lives with their mom until age 35.

[–]MagicTarPitRide 1 point2 points ago

Not a good insult, just an admission that money is the most valuable thing in his eyes, and that he uses wealth to judge people.

[–]Marcob10 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If you think that was a great insult, you are quite lame.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I was going to say: "If you did not see the obvious sarcasm in my comment, you are probably the kind of person that thinks 'quite lame' is a good insult."

Then I decided that your response was actually just very clever and ironic.

[–]Tumah 1 point2 points ago

I think your sarcasm detector needs recalibrating. Unless mine is too finely tuned I sensed subtle sarcasm in SirDCCaesar's post.

Doesn't look that way from here. Guy was being a dick so he decided to be a dick back.

[–]Jefferson_tardship 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I agree. It doesn't seem like he was preoccupied for hours thinking of a proper retort; he was just not going to let a person he doesn't know insult him publicly without saying something back.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

He basically said, "I'm rich, so I win." So, we now know how he measures personal worth: wealth.

[–]ProbablyHittingOnYou 33 points34 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Doesn't seem like that at all. I think he found the perfect way to say "I don't really give a fuck what you think".

[–]Squidfist 24 points25 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If he really didn't give a fuck what the guy thinks, he probably wouldn't have had to come up with a "snappy" retort. You'd think having 40 mil when you're 19 would take the value out of making someone on the internet look foolish, but apparently money only increases ego. Imagine.

[–]ProbablyHittingOnYou 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I don't really give a fuck what anyone on reddit thinks of me and I still enjoy insulting them.... He was having fun making that guy look like an idiot.

[–]Tumah 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Usually the amount you get paid on a TV show or in a series of movies depends more on your importance to the story than to the quality of the actor. I haven't seen Malcolm in the Middle but since he played the main character he couldn't be replaced easily.

Frankie Muniz is a cunt. He was a crap actor who made a fuck-ton of money, then went on to be a shite racecar driver and a terrible drummer. Next up, he's going to fuck up a career in advanced BMxing, and then fail his suicide attempt too.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago*

They call him "Malcolm in the rear" in racing circles. He continues racing despite being a horrible, horrible driver.

I'm the photographer that shot the photo in that thumbnail, and the other photo that he uses for his twitter picture. Work can be seen at www.merekdavis.com. I can personally say that he's actually a really down to earth guy when we met and did the shoot. We were out in the middle of downtown Phoenix of August last year. He didn't complain about the TERRIBLE heat or have a celebrity complex at all. Although I did suggest a shirt that his g/f brought that he apparently hated and he gave me the "Are you a dumb ass?" look. EDITED for a run on sentence.
