I have less of a problem with that guy, who is INEVITABLY going to exist, and more of a problem with the cowardly suckers who let him in when he does that. I go bumper to bumper when I see that and will make the dude sit.

I've also participated in cock-blocking operations where I'll drive in the shoulder at the speed of gridlock just to keep assholes from zooming by in the emergency lane. The guy behind me, without fail, will always leave me a spot. It's great. (Obviously if I see gumballs or hear sirens I move over).

Originally from Boston here, a town known for it's aggressive drivers. Moves like the one depicted are not uncommon, but Boston is the only place I have ever lived where the whole line of traffic will tighten up and not let the dickhead through. This combined with people beeping behind him/her will force them to proceed through the intersection. When I moved away and realized no one else in the country does this I was sad.

I both love and hate driving in Boston. I'm glad I don't have to do it very frequently.

Also from Boston, I have learned from countless near accidents not to give a fuck anymore. You want to merge like this OK by me, you want to go in the breakdown lane, whatever. I'm not going to risk my property or a minute of my life getting angry over something that probably wont waste my time anyway.

There will always be people who think and act this way and nothing you do will change their mind. Also, sometimes it's a legitimate mistake by a driver who is unfamiliar with the intersection.

It's better to swallow the anger and pride and let these people in. We all know people change when they get behind the wheel and they are, after all, your neighbors and probably not bad people over all.

I somewhat disagree. If I make a mistake like that, I proceed through traffic as the intersection dictates and then make appropriate course corrections elsewhere so that I get to where I wanted to go. I would rather lose time out of my day than be that guy. Especially if there is someone behind me that I would be blocking.
