They don't do this anymore. Currently, it's just a urine sample and it's incredibly fast and easy.

You can contract STDs from oral and manual sex as well. HPV strains can also be contracted even with the use of a condom. Bottom line: safer sex doesn't protect against everything.

my understanding is that some clinics do and others don't. you can perform the same test with a urine sample, so I believe they're phasing it out.
