Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

ಠ_ಠ The article.

Two Canadians died instantly in a freak accident when a car hit a 440-pound black bear and sent the animal flying straight through the windshield of an oncoming vehicle, local media said on Wednesday.

They're not exactly polar opposites though, they do bear an extreme resemblance.

In his defense, he would have had to post somewhere less karma-whorable than /r/pics if he'd actually linked to the article.

Stephen Colbert called it. We were so foolish not to believe him!

This is the exact kind of headline that Family Guy would use.

Tom: Good Evening. I'm Tom Tucker.

Diane: And I'm Diane Simmons.

Tom: Terrible news from Canada tonight. Two men were killed in a freak accident involving a flying bear.

Cut to scene of a bear sitting in a first class cabin.

Bear: I just loooove Salmon! It's my absolute favorite!

The bear begins to choke on his salmon and flail about. The man behind him performs the Heimlich maneuver and the large, unchewed piece of Salmon hits a man in the head, breaking his neck. The man falls out of his seat and knocks over the life support system of a terminally ill child sitting beside him.

Cut back to Tom and Diane.

Diane: I guess that's why you should always chew your food, huh Tom?

Tom: That's right, Diane.

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad I moved out of Canada.

It's happening.

In all truth though, Canada is a great country, and I would have no problem living there again, except of course the freezing cold and the flying bears.

Edit: Whoops

Actually, this is a common occurance here. The flying bears that is. People are trained to fight them so it's rare that people actually get killed.

It's astounding that there were such low casualties in the great bear storm of '04.

Never mind the simple fluff-piece of reporting, check out the first page of comments:

  • Simply unbearable....
  • Bear's cause of death: kodiak arrest.
  • There is a lesson to be learned here. Do NOT go to Canada. Canada is a very dangerous place. Go to Mexico instead. There has NEVER been a single reported instance of bears flying in Mexico. Improve your odds for a long life. Sincerely, Mexican Department of Tourism

  • Maybe they need road signs saying "Low Flying Bears" in Canada. Its the country's fault.

  • It was the "bear" traffic controler's fault.. he was still on his mandatory hibernation!

  • Why's it gotta be a black bear? No canadians ever get killed by white bears?

  • Thats what happens when you try to teach Bears to fly.....

  • So accidents involving bears are rare in Canada ... but what about accidents involving FLYING bears?

  • People (especially arrogant jerks named Hans)! Lighten up! Read the freaking headline - A "flying bear???" Really? You don't see any humor in that? 'Cause if you don't, you have got some serious emotional hang-ups. Obviously if you're related to one of the victims, you're going to be pretty sad. But, hell, if this was one of my buddies and I was the one killed by a "flying bear," they'd laugh their asses off - probably AT my funeral. And, I'd be disappointed if they didn't.

  • A "flying bear???" It's freaking hilarious.

  • Too bad the bear died...

Very weird I find this on the front page. I was talking with my mom about how I have a new supervisor at my job, and I mention his name.

She tells me she knows him (her company does a lot of work with the company I work for), and that his dad died about a month back in a freak accident where a car hit a bear and the bear went through the front windshield killing the driver and his father who was in the back right passenger seat.

Anyways, I never heard anything of the story until earlier today then I found this post. Weird Stuff, anyways, a very freak accident.

"Collisions between vehicles and animals are common in Canada, which has a healthy population of large wild animals such as moose and deer."

Thanks for the clarification.
