At least he kept one for his lapel.

Gotta love Shel Silverstein. I remember reading The Giving Tree and being stunned. It looked like a children's book, it read like a children's book, but in the end it had this enormous emotional impact. The dissonance between what his work looks like but what it actually says is amazing.

it's only depressing because it's the truth.

I have a feeling there is some deep meaning to this that I am not getting.

The flowers on his head are symbolic for new ideas and being unique. He is laughed by others and cuts his hair out of self-consciousness.

And by doing so, he becomes one of the mindless condescending people he was just laughed at by. (I assume this because his haircut is now identical to theirs, and he more or less just looks like them.)

But the last one he keeps in his suit

Nostalgia is for people who would rather remember good times than instantiate them.

Is there a poster of this I can buy?

hey look at this screencap of what I did with cleverbot
(that's a joke)
edit: Ha, -28. I bet everyone who downvoted is was super upset because they've posted a CleverBot screencap. Probably an Alpha one, too. And, most likely, several ones of an Omegle chat where they send someone the facebook self-directing link.

I don't get it.

Ha, wow, I didn't even notice the -28. But clearly I upset a lot of people, probably all of whom have posted CleverBot screencaps.
Around reddit, there are a few "standard issue" types of post that everyone does. It's like the macarena: follow the right steps, and suddenly, you're participating! Yay!
One of those is to have a "conversation" with CleverBot, and he'll say something oblique which is perhaps a slight bit funny due to it's randomness, and people will screencap it an post it. Reddit goes through waves of them. Sometimes there are hundreds a day.
It relates to this comic because, well, here, someone is having a unique thought, but is laughed at by 'the mass'. The point of my "joke" is about how everyone around here just does the same thing.
