I think it's something like a rotation through an extra spatial dimension...but you can choose to view it "left/right handed" in 3d space...or something like that......

You can do this same thing with slow moving ceiling fans if you look at them from an angle and concentrate long enough. It's like a real life mindfuck.

I'm about to ruin it, though - on the middle panel, watch the reflection of her foot, and especially when you can see the heel. Now look at that same area of the left and right panels - only one is really turning the right way.
