Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

This is great. It may have been done intentionally to keep other graffiti off that wall. In my city, we hire artists to paint murals on buildings that often get vandalized by graffiti. No one touches them after that.

Bullshit. You don't improve your art by vandalizing someone else's property.

I tolerate good art like this on worn out walls, but it's still not your property to draw on. Tagging I can not even stand to look at, even online, because it's nothing more than somebody's signature... If I wanted your signature, I'd ask for it, in the meantime - fuck off... only you and a selected few can read it, and it looks like crap. It's not art.

You know what I'd really want to see?

When a small business owner gets tagged and his property ruined, I would really like for the owner to get a chance to go to the tagger's home and spraypaint shit on his walls, because... you know... art and such.

In fact, most graffiti "artists" don't appreciate other people's art at all, and good art gets tagged every fucking day, it's disgusting. No respect for property, no respect for small business owners, no respect for art, no respect for even their own peers. Fuck that.

It strikes me as funny that so many graffiti taggers watch this video and make obscene comments (which I delete). Apparently they also give this video a thumbs down since it provides an easy way to erase their vandalism and that makes them mad. They are offended that someone dare to remove their "art" that they have so creatively painted on to walls that don't belong to them. It is as if they are the victim in all this. Unbelievable!!!!

You would have to be a HUGE douchbag to tag a mural. I assume it is out of respect people don't touch them. We have plenty of other isolated buildings for tagging so I doubt they will go through the trouble.

What do you mean? People do that all the time. I know there is like a "code" amongst graffers that you shouldn't go over somebody else's work (unless it is horrible) but not everybody follows that.

Graffiti for a lot of people is about bragging rights/getting your name out there (especially taggers). More people are going to see your tag if you put it on a huge fancy mural compared to some "isolated buildings".

Or it's just a way to show their disliking of it.

That's because tags originated as a way for gangs to mark their territory. Commissioned pieces by talented artists are for the most part untouched, while shitty murals painted to "capture the essence of the city" or whatever they intend on conveying aren't respected because they usually set up these murals in low-income neighborhood where they honestly don't give a flying fuck about the city. But no one would touch over a TURBO or BLU tag unless they just don't give a fuck about graffiti as an artform.
