Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

I had to go with my friend to pay off her parking tickets. It was the closest I've come to an actual prison. I wish they would just tear it down and build a new one though that would be grossly expensive and more of a clusterfuck than the Big Dig I'm sure.

On a past April Fools day, I convinced a family member that Coke was going to put a large advertisement into space that would have the Coca-Cola logo and would be visible every night. I let them continue to think that and inform other people for about a week before I fessed up to it being a joke.

The problem isn't a logo on the side of a rocket or something, it's the idea of someone making an ad large enough that you'd see it in the sky at night because that's basically stealing the view of the sky from people for commercial purposes.

UMD Alum Redditor here.

Paul Rudolph designed the Umass Dartmouth campus. Kallmann, McKinnell & Knowles did Boston City Hall.

And despite what the moronic tour guides say, Paul Rudolph wasn't a satanist and he didn't design the buildings to land flying cars on. And despite how it looks now, just getting Paul Rudolph to design the campus of a small state university was a major coup back in the late 1960s, and I'm sure MIT's Stata Center will be just as much of a leaky, mold-covered eyesore in forty years.

I was just thinking that some people must have complained about the "nude" drawing of humans, and I was right.

For the Voyager Golden Record they had to change it.

After NASA had received criticism over the nudity on the Pioneer plaque (line drawings of a naked man and woman), the agency chose not to allow Sagan and his colleagues to include a photograph of a nude man and woman on the record. Instead, only a silhouette of the couple was included.[3]

This is photoshopped. I'm not sure Sagan would have shared this sentiment. I think billboards in space are exactly what we need. Billboards in space means we've commercialized space travel. If we can make the drive for space exploration a profit generating endeavor (wink) then it'll move faster than ever before. I think free market capitalism is perfect in this context.

I have seen several ways marketing will enter space, a good idea of that is in shows like cowboy bebop and the jetsons. (yes Anime/cartoons) but if it is being visualized now what makes you think some will not try and make it real later....
