In hospitals, a tube is often stuck through the nose into the oesophagus and into the stomach. If there is a fracture of the base of the skull there is a good chance of delivering the tube into the brain. If her slender fingers are long enough this would be an interesting way of killing someone.

The part right after goes more straight into the head then you'd expect. It's a pretty classic carney stunt to put nails, screwdrivers, etc up that doesn't look like it'd fit. That said, mine are for sure too small for even a tiny finger. It kind of differs and they can be made larger by shoving stuff in them (often a side effect of draining sinuses with tubes).

On a side note, my wife refuses to attempt to shove her finger up my nose.

If it were a stereotype, I'd give you credit for calling me out.

If you've ever been ring shopping, you would know that the average woman has a ring finger roughly 1cm smaller in circumference than the average man. That difference in size applies to the circumference of all fingers, more or less. Women are also known to have, on average, more slender wrists, shorter hands, and shorter bodies in general. This doesn't apply to all women, but if you were to pick one man and one woman at random from a crowd and compare finger sizes, you'd be foolish to assume that, if this comparison were repeated 100 times with different pairs of individuals, the women would be shown to have larger fingers. It's called sexual dimorphism, and it's perfectly normal in most animal species.

I don't remember the term, but there is a big problem with assessing differences using averages.

Imagine two bell curves. One bell curve, for sample A, has an average of 3cm, the other, for sample B, 2cm. The conclusion would be that A has bigger {whatever}. Now put the two bell curves on top of each other. What you will see, almost always, is that there is too much overlap between the curves to be able to claim that A has bigger {whatever} then B.

The nasal canal runs horizontally toward the back of your head so if you're going to try this you should aim for the pole of your head rather than sticking your finger directly upwards. Start with something narrower than your finger.
