What's really amazing is that this cave was only "discovered" (scientifically speaking) in 2009. There's a lot more unexplored territory out there than we realize.

Spelunking must be the silliest sounding hobby there is.

I wonder how it got it's name? Maybe it's when you drop a rock over the edge to see how far down it is and after ten seconds you hear a faint "spelunk" as the rock hits water...

Edit: I'm sure there's a perfektly good explanation out there.

People who actually enter caves as recreation (or for research) don't call it spelunking. They call it caving and call themselves cavers.

Spelunking is a term for unprepared people who enter caves without the right equipment, and more often than not, get lost and need to be saved.

Cavers rescue spelunkers.
