Connection cannot be weakened because in neurophysiology the action potentials which are carrying information bow to the all-or-none law. In order to get an action potential going it is needed to reach a certain potential (certain threshold) and if it is not reached, the potential cannot be transferred. It's 100% or 0%.

How do you know how far I am? Stay factual. Those are biochemistry facts, as far as I know GABA is released when transferring the actions potential from the postsynaptical ending through the synaptic gap into the dendrite of another nerve. So how is that stuff supposed to sum information within the eletricity? (Unfortunately I can't tell what LTP and spatial summation is since English is not the language I am studying biology in. It is in fact hard for me to translate the stuff I know into a foreign language.)

A single action potential is all-or-none, but if a receptor is less responsive, the same action potential has less of an effect on the postsynaptic neuron, not to mention that a single neuron may have 10,000 synapses from other neurons. Changing receptor activity can change a lot about how a network of neurons behaves.

You're right. Inhibiting and supporting synapses. Changed receptor activity increases (or in this case) decreases the speed and/or even the ability to make associations. An example would be a case of two seperated cerebral hemispheres, women's have bigger and closer connections in their brains which allows them to make faster logical conclusions. I kindly admit that I wasn't right in an overall perspective of a Neuron system but I insist on the fact that a single nerve with an actions potential is not able to be weakened or strengthened.

You know how when someone links you to a Youtube video you've seen before, you feel the urge to say "Oh, I've seen this before?" For me, at least, I always have the urge to do that...it's basically showing off. This is what we have here. People just have the intense urge to brag that they've seen something on reddit before.

It's a form of elitism, and since it introduces nothing to the discussion but bad vibes, I downvote mercilessly, and wish others did too. I simply don't care if you've seen something before. I've seen many things in my two years of constant redditing. And when I see a repost, I either don't care, or have a good laugh for the second time. But I never assume that my prior experience with it matters to anyone else; that is the height of hubris. Besides, it's rather silly to expect all other submitters to see the same things you've seen. How was he supposed to know that down_vote_magnet has seen this before? How is anyone supposed to know that? Just live and let live, man.

They're making the claim that it is in Cheers somewhere. That is really easy to prove. Tell me what episode. Show a youtube clip. Something.

As popular as this urban legend is, there should be some evidence out there. Think of the karma whoring the youtube clip would see! Yet there is none. While the lack of evidence is not sufficient means of disproving your claim, the burden of proof lies with the people that say "this was in Cheers." The Box set is out there, they could easily prove it.

Agreed. As on old man here, I saw the the original episode on broadcast TV and watched the whole series. Now at 4pm local time everyday, WGN out of Chicago runs 2 episodes of cheers everyday, except when baseball is on. I have seen EVERY show, at least 3 times. If the herd of buffalo is moving at the speed of the slowest then wouldn't the slowest members be randomly distributed through out the herd. When the predator attacks the herd they will encounter buffalo of all abilities.

There is no reason to assume a random distribution. In fact, the herd probably moves at a decent pace at first but then slows down once the slowest start straggling and then continue at approximately that pace until they stop moving wherever they are going. Hence the slowest tend to accumulate at the back of the pack.

So all the Cheers are available on Netflix streaming. I've seen some off an on throughout the years, but never got really into it (but always thought it was funny). What are the best seasons to watch. I doubt I'd ever watch all of them, so I'm looking for the best of the series and go from there.

Everyone seems to be forgetting the fact that buffalo reproduce over time so that the dying buffalo are replaced by new buffalo.

I'm not sure this happens with brain cells. I think once they're dead they're pretty much gone.

Even if beer did kill brain cells on any appreciable level, the vast leap in logic is, "it kills the weaker ones first." How would you know? How would alcohol know? It implies that cells fight back in some way, or that strength in physical cell structure is related to smarts.

Next person who quotes this to me again is gonna get a Melvin. I swear. I'll do it! I am just crazy enough!!
