Elmo was actually a lot like Animal when he first appeared on Sesame Street. He was basically a caveman and could barely talk. It wasn't until Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo, was given the puppet after this failed experiment that Elmo became cute and loving. It's all in the documentary Being Elmo. Saw it at SXSW and it was incredible. Clash did a Q&A afterwards as Elmo too. It was surreal.

At least a few bucks. 5 would be a minimum. Just think about how much time it takes to get to your house. Gas and trying to work to get some cash. I. Ahem i mean they work hard and get payed less and tips are supposed to make up for it :p

I lived a drummer joke. Was tour managing a band, guitarist needed a 3rd hand capo or something. Nearly 6pm when everything closes so ran to Tin Pan Alley (London, street full of music shops), and burst in to every shop asking if they had one of these mythical devices, told no, run to next one.

Exploded into one of the last shops on the street, panting & sweating: "Have you got a 3rd hand capo?"

"Excuse me, but is sir a drummer?"

"Erm... yes, actually. How did you know?"

"Because this is a keyboard shop."

I was going to try and pull a muppetier-than-thou and claim Henson would have hated Elmo. Then I did a little research, and found out that Elmo has been around since close to the beginning. I am ashamed and sorry that i did not know that from my childhood. I will say though, that Animal has chunks of Elmo in his stool. That much I'm pretty sure of.
