I raised ducks and I was told that if you hatched ducks in an incubator (no mother) then they would not get her natural oils on their feathers. Without those oils they are pretty much like baby chicks (their feathers act as a sponge and pulls the water against their body and they die).

With that said its almost IMPOSSIBLE to keep them out of water anyway, at any age. Drinking water? They're going to want to get in it. It rains? It must be like transcending or going to heaven while still alive. Seriously...they will lose their fucking mind. On the whole ducks are about the happiest animals in the world (next to dolphins and river otters).

Except once a year when its rape-season, of course. Some ducks will try to pair off but other ducks will have none of that monogamy crap. Gay sex? Thats in too. Orgies? oh yeah..but mainly rapes

Also, just in case you raise baby ducks you have to limit their water for the first few days until they learn to auto-regulate themselves otherwise they will do nothing but drink water (and not eat) and so die. Its really tragic.

Further, ducks will occassionally "fall in love" with chickens. But I havent seen a chicken "fall in love" with a duck. Also for some reason turkeys will fall in love with ducks. Just... fyi

There's an ill-tempered male turkey at a farm where I work. He will attack any human male who enters his pen - but only when your back is turned, the sneaky fucker. He's such a jerk they can't let him near any other turkeys. But ... they put three or four female ducks in his pen. Now he's content, lording over them and showing off. They pretty much ignore him.

Yeah I did some work with the SPCA and they didn't give them water to drink for that reason. Instead, you soaked cat biscuits in water and mushed it up for them to eat, so they get the water that way

I used to foster baby ducks for the local bird sanctuary. You can let them swim on their own, but they should be a bit older than this if their mom isn't there. They will develop oil that protects their down, and they will dry off by shaking (like a dog does) afterwards. The water shouldn't soak into their down, like it is in this pic.

You test it by dropping a bit of water on their backs. If it beads up and rolls right off, leaving them dry, then they are ready to swim. I'd be careful with the sink as well, as they can jump, even in water.

Not to be a downer, but ducks at this age are fragile as fuck. It's unlikely those are still alive, given the way they're being allowed to soak. If you find ducks this age with no mom, find a mom. If you can't, find a wildlife rehabilitator (who may be able to keep them alive if they know what they're doing and have good facilities)

When I was ten I had two pet ducklings. I wanted them to get swimming practice, so I put them in a tub of water about 6 inches deep. Some random turn of events made my ten year old self have to leave and then I forgot about them. An hour later, one duck was exhausted and only staying afloat by jumping off the sunken body of the dead one under the water. This pic reminded me of that.

I saw them in many European countries other than Britain but that doesn't matter....all I want to know is how one washes their hands with dual taps? My method was turning both on low and trying to move my hands sideways fast enough to get a little of each. It didn't work very well.

I never realised this was such a global issue! Are dual taps really that unusual?

To answer your question: I wash my hands like a ninja during the warming up period of the hot tap, so I'm done before it becomes too hot. If I need longer, I guess I have to put the plug in and fill the sink a little with a mix of hot and cold water to get a warm solution.

no. there are many different types of ducks. mallards, khaki campbells, rouen, indian runners, white crested, lots more.

regarding your edit, you're assuming that they all came from the same parents. when you mailorder ducks, it's typical to be given many options of what breeds you want. i chose a mallard and a khaki campbell, two completely different breeds.
