Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

Lucky was a toothpaste maker/chemical company (like P&G). Goldstar (Geumsung in Korean) was electronics/appliances maker (it was ahead of Samsung, or "Three Star"). The two formed a conglomerate in the 1980s, I believe.

Wrong. I used to work for them... They had this big meeting where they discussed the word "LG" (I know... it's dumb) but they said that nowadays... LG doesn't stand for anything... on adverts and stuff, it says Life's good. But that's only a fancy thing they decided to throw in there... not an official definition of LG.

However at one point there was a company called Lucky Goldstar, and when it was bought out by another company it turned into LG but had no meaning beyond that.

Did you know that the original name for Pac-Man was Puck-Man? You'd think it was because he looks like a hockey puck but it actually comes from the Japanese phrase 'Paku-Paku,' which means to flap one's mouth open and closed. They changed it because they thought Puck-Man would be too easy to vandalize, you know, like people could just scratch off the P and turn it into an F or whatever.

"Fewer" is for things that are measured in discrete amounts. If you had several ghosts and I exorcised one, you would have fewer ghosts. If you had a beaker of ectoplasm and some of it mysteriously disappeared, you would have less ectoplasm.

I always heard that it was a 3d wheel axle. Like the circular part of the e is a wheel facing away from you, the top of the "knife" would be the axle itself and the circular part of the d is the other wheel facing you. I heard it was to represent moving wheels when combining it with the arrow or something. Here's a crude outline

Don't know what it stands for but LG is quite interesting. It's a family owned company owned by the Koo family. For me it's very strange to imagine a company of that size being a family company in these days.
