So, this was posted less than a month ago: Float Like A Butterfly

Funny thing is that luhjan (OP of this post) was one of the first to comment on the 'original' post.

Looks like saving posts you've commented on, and posting them one month later is the way to do things around here. Watch me rise reddit, I've unlocked the secret!

Also, I'll repost my original comment here - how very meta:

"Float like a float bot. Sting like an automated stinging machine!"

Guess who!

Downvoted OP and upboated the scholar Dingler, thanks for the heads up thought I'd seen this before like a dozen or 2 times.

Hey, I'm not here to pass judgement, just happy that I've finally worked out the system! Tasty orange-arrows here I come!

This is one of the most reposted gifs of all time. Pretty messed up that this one is completely blatant... but this thing is seen at least once every month or two.

This is one of the most reposted gifs of all time.

I think this is said about almost all of them. We must have a thousand "most reposted of all time"

[–]Kernel_Forbin 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It is certainly one of those thousand.

But this begs the question: seeing as how this is my first viewing of the above GIF and I can't be alone, should I upvote OP for showing me this link? Or should I downvote him for being a karma whore? Would it be ethical to downvote him while at the same time enjoying his post? I just don't know...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well since reposts will happen no matter what, you downvote him for being a karma whore. It's not like it will stop the reposts. And it won't mean anything anyway since it has 280+ score right now. So do it for the revenge!

[–]Dingler 1 point2 points ago*

Yeah, that's a problem for me too (/r/firstworldproblems anyone?). But when I come across a post that has been called out as a blatant repost in the comment section, I always check what else that poster has been submitting. In this particular case it looked like luhjan had a big repost-issue so I decided for downboat and a silly comment calling him out.

Then again, you could just don't give a fuck, and enjoy the moment - there's a life lesson for ya!

Funfact: The 'original' (let's not use that word anymore) poster, slurmsMc even complained about this being a repost, in this very thread!, and got downvoted to hell - I demand justice!

I think I'd just give up if I went on such an aggressive offensive and ended up never making contact.

'Ok, guys. I'm done. Did you see that shit?'

He didn't. Griffin was already basically knocked out at that point.

Honestly, I have my doubts about that fight. I've never been hit by Silva, but as a fighter I have no doubt that an off-balance jab cannot knock you down.

[–]Ghost_Of_Perdition 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What doubts are there to have? That was the 3rd time in about 2 minutes that Anderson knocked Forest to the ground and after this one it was called. It was a counter punch that landed right on the chin and Forest clearly didn't expect to be hit while punching at a back-pedaling opponent. I'm not surprised and there's a reason why so many of Silva's victories are by KO/TKO.

Forest could do absolutely nothing in that fight and Anderson was hitting him however and whenever he wanted. Forest even admits that he was completely schooled in that fight. He's said and joked about it in multiple interviews and even in one of his books.

Only Ali has his feet planted and is dodging in place. Silva had to move backwards to maintain his balance.

Ali's was a huge insult to the other boxer. "I don't even need to parry. Look, I'll just stand here, and you can't touch me."

Silva is great, no two ways about it. What match was that gif from? It almost look like the opponent pulled the right hook. Be interested to see a longer version.

Did you see the clip where he tried to do an Ali style shuffle?

[–]thefudgeman 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Silva vs. Franklin, I think their 2nd fight. He didn't pull the punch, his hooks are really that awful.

[–]bballdeo 6 points7 points ago

how about his fight against Brian London?

11 punches in 3 seconds.. insane.

[–]bfhurricane 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Those reflexes are insane, period.

[–]Vsx 8 points9 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Those aren't reflexes bro. If you scout a dude and he mostly throws straight punches to the head you just keep moving your head and it will look like this every time. Gotta mix in some hooks and body shots to make contact on a dude as quick as Ali. Ali was tough as nails so he would do shit like this and occasionally get caught but it didn't matter much. The psychological advantage of dodging punches with your hands down was too much for him to pass up.

Ali was the man though, no disputing that.

"I'm the worlds greatest and I'm only 21. God I'm so pretty!"

Ali had some amazing quotes.

[–]ollaa 12 points13 points ago

"I'm experienced now, professional. Jaws been broke, been knocked down a couple of times, I'm bad! Been chopping trees. I done something new for this fight. I done wrestled with an alligator. That's right. I have wrestled with an alligator. I done tussled with a whale. I done handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder in jail. That's bad! Only last week I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick! I'm so mean I make medicine sick!"

"Fast. Fast. Fast! Last night I cut the light off my bedroom, hit the switch was in the bed before the room was dark. Fast! And you, George Foreman, all of you chumps are gonna bow when I whoop him. I know you got him. I know you got him picked. But the man's in trouble. I'mma show you how great I am!"

One of my earliest memories of all time is my mother screaming at Ali to "let go of Spinks and HIT that SOB".

[–]Pyrofire14 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Any fighters here? The craziest part to me is Ali's not guessing with his head movement. He alternates left, right, and left again to dodge each punch accordingly. Now watch his opponent's back foot on that cross - he throws it SO hard his momentum carries him forward! If that hit me, I'd be in the hospital that night. Ali either knew he wouldn't get hit, or didn't care. Either way... What can be said that hasn't been already? Greatest ever.
