I'm not generalizing an entire race. I'm not saying all white people are ignorant. If that were true, then I'd be stereotyping myself (interesting how a few people thought I was black!).

Most people living in multiracial areas have witnessed people of all races "interpret things as racist against them". White people are not some special race.

? I don't even understand what you're saying here, man. White people are in a particular position because they are the sociological majority. The reason why white people don't care nearly as much when you call them crackers is the same reason the Japanese don't care that much when you call them chinks, or whatever in Japan. If you are the sociological majority, it means basically nothing. You may get annoyed, and you're still a prick if you call a white person a cracker, certainly. It's not a good thing to do. But it's not as bad as calling a black person a nigger in an area where they're the sociological minority. One annoys (or offends) whites. The other creates a very hostile environment where blacks don't feel safe. It isn't that whites are "special". It's simply that they are the sociological majority.

This is quite a sick thing to say. Whatever impact genetics may have on human behaviour is nothing compared to cultural upbringing. To say someone is destined to possess a negative behavioural trait throughout their life because of their race is pseudo science.

I'm not talking about genetics. I'm talking the fact that whites grow up in a different environment than blacks, based solely off the color of their skin. They get treated differently. I'm not saying that white people are inherently unable to see discrimination, or something. I'm completely agreeing with you. Why did you think I meant that white people and other races have different intellectual abilities inherently? Didn't you think that maybe that contradicted everything else I said? Can you give some thought to what my main point is at all before you attack points I never made?

I don't care if you think it's condescending. People won't instantly understand things that they have no experience with or even any indication about it. It doesn't affect many people's lives, so how could they even think to think about these issues? I used to be that way too. I used to think that transsexuals are delusional and shit, before I actually met some myself. But before that I would have no way of even knowing that my beliefs before were in anyway harmful. It just never crossed my mind.

Anyway, if someone calls you a nigger or a cracker and you're not sure if they respect you, then they don't. The solution is to take it personally.

Too bad...whites are not in a position to understand the shit blacks go through. Straights are not in a position to understand the shit gays go through. Christians are not in a position to understand the shit atheists go through. Whites are not in a position to understand the shit blacks go through. Right handed people are not in a position to understand the shit left handed people go through.

It's basic common fucking sense, not racism. They are still able to understand what these people go through with effort. But most people won't even think to think of it.

I don't even get what your point is with this? Anyways, taking it on the face of it, you're allowed to take racist comments personally. But if your white friend (for this example, assume you're hispanic) calls someone he doesn't like a spic, you, as a hispanic person, are completely justified in being offended by that. When you see racism or a reddit post, don't automatically assume it's a white person.

I don't do that for each individual post...I do that for the attitude on reddit in general. If there are ten racist comments, it's safe to assume most of them were probably written by white people. Many of which don't have the experience necessary to understand what's wrong with it. Again, call that "condescending bullshit" all you want, I don't give a fuck, because it's true. I'm not going to go to a particular commenter and say "Oh, you're only saying that because you're white" because I don't know whether they're white, and because it isn't because they are white...it's because they're are ignorant, which is often due to their sociological position of being white in a white man's world.
