Coco doesn't have an endorsement deal with Nixon. Claire does. I've also made a living interviewing professional surfers for the past 10 years, and I can indisputably tell you that this is Claire Bevilacqua.

I've also made a living interviewing professional surfers for the past 10 years, and I can indisputably tell you that this is Claire Bevilacqua.

Who did you work for?

I used to work in the...retail clothing industry for my first job out of college.

I didnt think Claire could boost like that.

I actually work for a surf publication. Doesn't pay a lot, but the perks are off the chart.

As far as Claire being able to launch like that - it's simply a flyaway. There's no way she would have landed this. Doubtful it's a tow-at wave as well considering she would have covered quite a bit more distance with the jet-ski assist.

Yeah, so I just checked out your profile/past comments. I totally know who you are. We've never met, however. But yeah if you rattled off your credentials to me on this website, I'd think you're full of shit unless I did some snooping. I've enjoyed your writing. Whenever I see one of your articles in the NY times I try to submit it to reddit and digg, but I've never had them take off.

It was great for a first job out of college for me, but I got kinda sick of it. I'm still friends with a lot of people in that industry. I grew up in Laguna, and the town has pretty strong connections with Billabong, Hurley and Volcom. I worked for one of those companies.

While not "fake" in the strictest sense, this picture is likely the product of a tow-in aerial. Her height and body posture, to me, makes this look like an unnatural surfing aerial. It is not uncommon for surfers--especially for magazine shoots--to have a jet-ski pull them up the face of a wave to launch them for a big air.
