We had one of those in Maine, outside one of the larger post offices in the state. USPS should go crazy and have all of their mailboxes be weird creative things instead of the standard blue.

Yeah, my guess is that it'd be tough to justify "such creativity" ... it's probably easier/cheaper to just choose one color and paint them as such, just to keep them from rusting. But, it's a pretty cool thought, nonetheless.

Oh but they can justify it as a team building activity! Or they could make these fancy cans and sell them for ... profits? Or charity? Or for money for the city..? I say these things without really knowing whether post offices fall under local/state/federal government... Really I just think it would be fun for any job and you can always find a way to justify workplace fun. Maybe I should go into HR?

The postal service is part of the Federal Government, and is covered under US Law - which pretty much makes any tampering with or even defacing of such items a potentially serious crime (hell, you can't even put anything inside a mailbox (such as an envelope or "a flyer") without committing a crime).

I'm pretty sure that was a designed trashcan at Coachella 2010.

EDIT:And after seeing the video of the artist making the trashcan, I can say it's not the exact trashcan but I wouldn't be surprised if it was designed by the same artist.

Bummer that he won't get to keep it since the trash company owns the trash can. Maybe he could just buy it from them?
