My Cat was called Chin (after Chin/Qin Shi Huang). He was big, dumb, super clumsy and awesome- I think he thought he was a dog sometimes. The thing he's doing in the last pic, we called that a 'bop'. I'd go over to him, say 'Hey Chin, can I have a bop?' and he's give me a big cuddly headbutt. If I was ever down or upset, he'd know and bop me to make me laugh. I know some folks think cats don't give a shit about you (and I've had a cat like that) but Chin was inseparable from me and my identical twin sis. No-one else in our family got a look-in when we were about, hehe.

He died seven years ago, two days before christmas. He had accidentally gotten outside at night in the snow and tried to get back into the house by climbing onto the kitchen roof and jumping across to my bedroom window. Like I said, he was clumsy. He slipped, fell off the windowsill and cracked his head on the concrete in the back yard. I wasn't with him when he died, but thankfully my twin sis found him before he lost consciousness, and stroked him until he passed away a few minutes later. Her last words to him were, 'I love you, Chin. we'll see each other again'.

Made me think of our cat Daisy (aka the Daze) who died earlier this year. She was with us for 15 years from a kitten and was 10lbs of feline fury. Very tiny but she ruled our yard with an iron paw. Funny, she absolutely loved people but hated any other living creature... she would walk with us around the neighborhood and always was coming up to people to say hi. Dog comes up? No problem, she'd jump on their face and commence intense clawing procedure. Rodents and birds were completely eliminated from our yard and we even watched her chase racoons. Ruthless cat I tell you!

Sigh, we really miss her...really understood the whole 'familiar' concept after she was gone. Months later whenever I'm outside doing yard work I'm always looking/seeing her out of the corner of my eye. I really like the idea of her her tearing up my gloomy clouds, it fits her personality to a T.

Reminds me of a pin the vet gave me the day I took my cat in to be cremated (woke up one morning and he was lying dead by the backdoor). It was a little kitty with angel wings and a halo.

My cat and best buddy has developed Horner's syndrome. It is non-fatal and usually temporary, but it got me to thinking about his mortality. I know he won't be around forever, but I want for him to be around for as long as possible.

My aunt had two cats Charlie 15 yrs and Sam 14 yrs. Last week they found Charlie in the basement passed out they rushed him to the vet congenital heart failure and cancer so they put him down. the hard part is Sam is Deaf and keeps calling for him constantly. they get into your heart and when they go it just kills ya.

I had a cat since fifth grade; I lost her last year (I'm a sophomore in college). I had a pretty damn rough time in middle school and high school. We lost her over summer break, but I didn't go home, since I was to work in Washington over the summer. That was the biggest mistake of my life. I gave up my last chance to see the one being on this earth who wouldn't judge me and who loved me unconditionally. We never fought, and she would always know when I was sad. She had this little "mew" she would give whenever I walked into a room. She ran away and was likely eaten by a coyote during my stint in DC. My family looked for her for over a month. She was gone. Worst thing is, I don't even remember what my last memory of her would be.

We have a dog and another (fatass lazy adorable) cat, but I was always closest to her, and she to me.

EDIT: sorry if I'm rambling here, it's just that this has opened some old wounds.

My cat Pumpkin. I had him when I was 7. He was a stray and he came over one day. I didn't even feed him, but he stuck to me like glue. I had that cat for ages. We were the best of friends. I loved him so much. He was ran over by a car 3 times. The first 2 times, he survived and recovered, but that third one did him in. The vet came over and put him down. I still think about him all the time :(

Don´t mean to sound nasty, but I get all choked up when seeing those posts (sometimes anyhow) darnit, and that´s often to big an emtional investment for a jaded soul when you just hit up reddit for a quick browse. Ahh never mind. I´ll just try to look away in the future.

Our long gone feline friends are still A blessing to us today...I grew up with my cat Calie from when I was 8, she disappeared sometime 2 years ago...that cat was like a sibling to me, we were together when one of us was feeling bad, we were together when it was a sunny day. We loved to tease and play with each other almost every day. I miss that cat...Best 10 years of my life. RIP to of our friends, may they live on watching over us <3

My cat died about a month or two ago. I couldn't god damn cry for him. Not even after a fifth of liquor. I got him in '99, he was like 12 yrs old. Carried his dead body to the vet, said goodbye and all that. I feel like I shafted him or something, like I didn't mourn. Poor lil guy :(

I read your comment about your kitty's story. I miss mine, too. My kitty passed away from cancer a couple of years ago and we had to put him down. He suffered for months until I begged my parents to let me take him to a doctor. Sure enough after the diagnosis we had to feed him pills and prick him... It was awful. I hope he knows that he was my best friend ever and that I love him so much. Thanks for making this =)
