heh. I worked on that production... it ranks as probably the most horrible 2 months of my life. If I watch the credits in slo-mo I see my name for some of the episodes.

Why was it horrible?

I was a PA - production assistant. At the time they were a small outfit of about a dozen animators... this grew though to 2 dozen plus. One of the things I had to do was arrange for getting them their supper from take-out restaurants. This alone sucked. After I left they immediately brought in caterers for that kinda thing.

I also took a lotta crap from people anytime they were having a bad day. Being a PA sucks.

Finally, while I was there, the producers agreed to a contract with ABC to produce something like 6 episodes in 13 weeks or some insane numbers like that. ABC was desperate cuz their saturday morning line-up was getting crushed by shows like Batman on Fox.

The number of episodes in the time frame given was just impossible. An incredibly challenging job went to impossible as animators started to sleep in sleeping bags at the studio and work around the clock to bang out these episodes.

Dudes had their wives leave them while this was going on. People were walking around the studio like pasty-skinned zombies for lack of sleep. I recall one sunday afternoon going over to a department store and buying a dozen sweatsocks and then handing them out to the guys... I was a freaking hero for this :o

Finally there was the director.... for whatever reason this guy decided he didn't like me, so I suffered a lotta bullshit whenever he was cranky and pissed off about something not working right in the production.

Finally, after one of his little tantrum outbursts on a Sunday when I'd come in to work the extra day on the weekend I'd had enough. Next day I told my boss I was done. "I can't say I blame ya" he said, smiled, reached down next to his chair and came up with a 26'er of vodka. "You've done a helluva a job" and handed me the bottle.

So ya... it was a pretty horrible experience for me. I suspect not too many of the animators remember it fondly either.

Holy shit. Well I thank you for your work, as well as the animators who sacrificed what they did in order to produce this amazing show. I think stories like this should be told more often to let people know just what kind of effort it takes to make something.

Thanks... well enjoy, the animators definitely poured their hearts and souls into it :)

Upvote for awesomeness!

I rewatched it a while ago via....questionable means, and realized:

a) how many computer puns there were b) how my memory served me well in it's awesomeness c) how this show actually got really deep and heavy
