Yes it is. We can go back and forth like this until one of us uses some logic, so I guess I'll be the one to do it. Just about every single atheist believes that there is no god due to a complete and total lack of any kind of evidence for the existence of god. If that isn't closely intertwined with science, please explain to me how.

I agree to the first point, for the most part. But there are a lot of younger people here that might not have the experience necessary to hold those interesting discussions past the point where, once again, a veteran will enjoy the discussion.

Hence my original statement of, "someone PM me if this subreddit stops being filled with 14 year olds". That wasn't facetious, it was sincere.

And the memes and comics are just an alternate way of expression.

Sure, but how many, "I was dating someone who turned out to be a fundie Christian! OH NO!", "Coming out as an athiest", "Pwning my religious friend" and "Haha, look at this idiot on facebook!" comics/posts are required before it becomes redundant? I say we passed that point a long time ago.

Reddit, itself, is a site of memes and comics and it will naturally appear here, anyways.

Depends where you look. I've unsubscribed from r/pics, r/funny, r/F7U12, r/trees, and now r/atheism, and doing so has vastly reduced the number of memes, increased the quality of the content, and improved the overall Reddit experience. I would say that the worst parts of Reddit are the biggest subreddits.

This subreddit is going the way of r/pics and r/funny. I value Reddit for its intellectualism, creativity, and fresh content. If a subreddit loses those qualities, I consider that a huge flaw of the subreddit.

It seems like you have been here a while and are here all the time, so you have enough time to sort through the good and "bad" posts, which is not that much time at all. And that happens in almost every subreddit, especially the larger ones.

When the burden of wading through the mire of shitty posts outweighs the enjoyment I get from the subreddit, I unsubscribe. R/atheism passed this point long ago, but unfortunately, and unlike most of the large subreddits, there is not a smaller and more intelligent alternative (to my knowledge). Because of this, I have stayed subscribed to r/atheism for the rare piece of quality content. Today I decided that the quality posts were rare enough that nothing of value would be lost if I unsubscribed.
