Last November, my dad was in the hospital for what turned out to be a liver infection. It was my 11 year old brother's birthday, so my mom took him to the hospital so they could have a little party. When they were there, they started talking about the rest of the family, and my little brother says "I'm getting worried about Cathryn, (our 14 year old sister) she's started saying bad words."

This is going to get buried under all the comments but here we go anyway.

I was teaching first grade elementary school and during a math activity I noticed that one table of kids had gone quiet and were glaring at each other. I wandered over and said "Hey guys, what's up?" One little blonde girl turns to me and said "Billy said the c-word!" Now I was rather taken aback that a 5yr old already knew the c-word let alone was using it in class, so I turned to Billy and said "Now Billy, you know that's a bad word, and we don't use bad words at school." (if they want to swear their blessed little heads off at home, go for it, just not in my classroom.) Billy looks sulky and mutters something under his breath. "What was that Billy?" He looks up. "It's not that bad a word...". "Well Billy actually the c-word is a pretty bad word" "But my parents use it at home all the time!" At this point I'm starting to get confused. Does Billy's mum repeatedly refer to her lovely little boy as a cunt? Does his father regularly describe his favorite flavor of cunt? What kind of family is this? "Billy...what c-word did you say?" He looks down. "Come here and whisper it in my ear Billy, it's ok, you're only telling me so it's alright" Billy sidles up to me looking scared, comes right up to my ear and whispers "crap!"

I was on the floor in tears. Most memorable event all year.

I think it's pretty fucked up that, in the US, it's 'okay' to call a dude a dick and it's all taboo to call a woman a cunt. The notion that a woman is somehow superior to a man is outright disgusting. It's even more disgusting when some people hold that view and don't even consider themselves a sexist.
