  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

Reptiles (Snakes, alligator, etc) are generally pretty delicious, and the ones we eat are mostly carnivorous. Seafood (Tuna, bass, marlin, etc) are delicious too and they're mostly carnivorous. Although I do agree that we don't eat many carnivorous mammals....But then dogs and cats taste pretty good too. I guess we just eat everything.

The thing about eating carnivores is the higher you progress on the food chain (generally) the less nutritious/delicious/whatever the food.

Think about it this way, when you eat something your body digests it imperfectly extracting whatever nutrients necessary to survive. A plant gets energy from the sun and the soil, it is the purest form of energy available to humans as food. A herbivore eats these plants and processes it, effectively recycling the energy into its own body. A carnivore then eats the herbivore or whatever and it recycles the energy again. If you then eat the carnivore it is another recycling step. Basically carnivores just aren't the most efficient way to consume calories.

That being said, a cheetah steak sounds pretty fantastic. (even if it would be just for a story...)

While I agree that eating carnivores are waste a lot of energy, it's not always true that the higher up the food chain the less nutritious/delicious/whatever the food. Cows eat grass. Beef tastes better and has more nutrients than grass.

It's a general rule...but yeah you are right. The thing is meat is completely different than grass so it changes form. Along a similar line of reasoning we cannot eat sunlight and dirt, but plants do and are nutritious/delicious/whatever.

Carnivore meat tends to be very low in fat and kinda sinewy because they have to hunt for food rather than plodding over to the grass to eat it up. This kind of meat is generally unappetizing for most people.

To establish my credentials, I eat meat and it is delicious. Just so we are on the same page.

I would eat pretty much any animal provided I didn't know it personally or know it through it's relatives or associated animals. This includes humans. I consider myself an animal lover and have owned many pets. None of which I'd ever eat, even in a life or death situation. But give me an animal from somewhere else and it's dinner time. :D
